How Super could've been better (IMO)

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 07:11 AM PDT

The biggest missed opportunity IMO, was Goku Black not being Goten. I know this was a popular Theory at the time, but this is my take on it.

Zamasu when pursuing his Zero Mortals plan, realizes that there is no way he can beat Goku in Hand on Hand Combat and comes up with a plan to not destroy Goku from the Outside, but rather from the Inside. (Kind of how the joker tries to break Batman) He goes to an alternate timeline, kills Goku and Chi-Chi and the rest of the Z-Warriors and raises Goten to believe that Humans are cruel and vile, and it was them that took his Mother. He raises Goten to despise Humans and succeds in making him an all-out evil person. Goten grows up guided by Zamasu's evil ways, who focuses on drawing out qualities that made Goku so powerful (thirst for battle) and combines them with hatred for humanity. He would also have to make Goten HATE Goku, otherwise I don't think he would try to kill him.

When Goku Black talks about how he killed all the innocent people, Goku is enraged and beats him close to death. Zamasu steps into the picture and asks Goku if he is really about to kill his own son. Now a scene where Goten's upbringing and overall backstory is explained in Flashbacks plays.

This, for the first time in DB history, would introduce a strong moral dillema that could'nt be overcome just by "simply defeating the villain". Goku would know that Goten would actually be a good person, if it werent for Zamasu's upbringing, so it would be difficult for him to fight his son to the death. We would also get a great parallel of Trunks and Goten being enemies, instead of best friends like in main timeline.

And most importantly, it would give us an actual evil Goku, without resorting to the stupid "He bumbed his head and became evil again".

Having Goku Black just be some dude inhabiting Goku's body took all the point of it being Goku in the first place. They could've just had any other strong fighter in his case and it would'nt change shit, except for the intro of the arc before we actually knew that.

    What do you guys think?

Shower thought: it’s super unfortunate that Goten never got to grow up.

Idk man, we have seen time past for roughly every one,

We have seen. Two different Future trucks, a future Gohan(one arm), kid-teen-adult gohan.

But goten has been ten? foreveeeer.

Just a passing thought I had.

[Why] are all deities aromantic & "single"? [Philosophical]

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 01:47 PM PDT

Well it's kinda a philosophical hypothetical question, not something with a certain answer, but I'd still like to hear others' opinions. Every opinion is welcome.

In DBZ & especially DBS, in the depictions of deities (supreme kais, angels & destroyers), the concept of romantic relationships is nonexistent. All deities are mostly always either alone, or accompanied by an assistant, usually of the same gender (predominantly male).

Does that mean that deities in DB world are (necessarily) asexual & aromantic? Is the longing to connect with someone else a matter of mortals and does not concern gods?

Btw, if it is so, one can ask himself what difference does gender actually make, as we witness that there are still 2 genders among deities as well, but that's a different topic perhaps.

Just to clarify - I've watched Dbz & Dbs, and if there is a deity which isn't single that I've missed, I'd still be interested as to why the most supreme deities which I mentioned above are all single.

    • Open discussion. No right/wrong answers. For philosophical people. *

Why didn’t Frieza use his OP orb he used to destroy Planet Vegeta use it to destroy Namek?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 03:25 PM PDT

He used it in the Bardock special why can't he use it in the actual arc when he's at full power? He could've just destroyed it almost instantly with the orb thingy but waited 5 minutes instead for no reason.

How smart is Trunks? Is he smarter than Goten?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 03:57 PM PDT

As he a kid he seems to be cunning and mischievous. As an adult, he's mature and wise. He doesn't come off as naive/innocent as Goten. But in DBS he was struggling in math. I would say he's pretty smart but not a genius.

Did Piccolo get hit on the head?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 11:51 AM PDT

It's like he completely forgotten that all Vegeta ever did throughout the entirety of Dragon Ball is completely misread his opponents strength and overestimate his own.

Which Videl do you prefer: Videl with pigtails or Videl with short hair?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 03:25 AM PDT

    And why?

For me, I definitely prefer Videl with longer hair and pigtails as I always thought she looked WAY cuter and prettier with her pigtails and long hair and when I think of Videl, I ALWAYS think of her look in the Great Saiyaman Arc.

IMO, Videl's character went downhill once she cut her hair and decided to be Gohan's boyfriend and cheerleader and she definitely was stripped of anything that was even remotely interesting about her when she became Gohan's wife.

Fun fact about ui: its real! Kinda... Hear me out

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 03:04 AM PDT

I've heard something similar to UI has been used as a real technique by martial artists. It's just on a less intense level. They'll look the same obviously, but it can be done. They clear their mind and let their body make action without thought. Sound familiar? Of course this is used in a much more realistic fashion than in Super, but it's used similarly and UI is probably based on this technique!
