    My favourite Transformation in all of Dragon Ball

    The moment when Goku transformed into a Super Saiyan is arguably the most defining moment in all of Shounen.

    It was such a moment that caught us off guard when we watched it for the first time, because we had no idea what a Super Saiyan looked like. And once it happened, it became history. We then saw so many other transformations happen afterwards.

    -Vegeta suddenly being able to turn into a Super Saiyan out of nowhere.
    -Gohan fulfilling his potential as a half saiyan / half human and becoming a Super Saiyan 2.
    -Goku and Vegeta fusing with the Potara.

    There's so many iconic moments in Dragon Ball Z. And while I think the "specialness" of the transformations ended up becoming more and more of a trope with time, no one can deny its impact.

    But none of these are my favourite transformations in Dragon Ball Z. Because my favourite came from a movie that was made to tell the backstory of one of the characters. To show how he became the "badass" so many people see him as once he showed up for the first time. I am talking about the History Of Trunks.

    For context, I own every Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z movie that came out in VHS in the country I come from. It is to this day my most fondest collection. And for many years, I only had those VHS tapes to watch Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, because the country I was living in (the UK) wasn't showing Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z at the time.

    But there was one I had a lot of difficulty watching and that was the History Of Trunks. Reason? It's incredibly sad. It's not particularly easy to watch. But with time, I grew more and more fond of it. I started to connect with it more. And I had certain scenes ingrained in my mind. Most specifically the moment where Trunks finds Gohan, his mentor and friend, dead on the ground.

    This scene is so brilliantly executed. From its animation to its Japanese voice acting, it's just so powerful. I especially love the colour tones, the purpleness of the city which lights up from time to time with red lights that surround the scenery. All focusing on Trunks who is just walking towards Gohan, with tears coming down his eyes, drenched in rain and uttering constantly the word: Gohan.

    Until Trunks comes to the realisation that there's nothing he can do to bring Gohan back to life and yells in agony.

    The frustration is palpable. It's haunting. It's so raw.

    And all of this motivates Trunks to finally turn into a Super Saiyan for the first time.

    But what makes this scene even more special is that him turning into a Super Saiyan isn't about becoming stronger than an enemy that he is facing. No. It's just despair. Because once he transforms, he continues to scream in pain.

    Because in my eyes, Trunks' transformation is just about dealing with all of his emotions in that one moment.

    And it's thanks to that he is able to grow from it and ultimately becomes the badass he shows up as once he faces Frieza. You can see it in Trunks' eyes. He knows what must be done. He knows what he has to do to protect the people he loves. He knows the pain of what he and his Mom had to endure in the original timeline. And he was going to do whatever it took to stop that from happening again.

    Which is only possible because of everything he went through. Showcased brilliantly when he transforms into a Super Saiyan for the first time.

    And that's why his first transformation is my favourite in all of Dragon Ball Z. Which is funny because it wasn't necessarily canon when it was first showed. But alas, it is my favourite.

    Starting the Journey of Dragon Ball

    hey everyone! im new to the world of dragon ball and plan to start the anime soon. while i do intend on reading the manga, i prefer to read it after i finish with the series so that i donot end up comparing them and can enjoy both for what they are. But i do have a doubt. people say that orignal dragon Ball series is skippable but i feel it will make me miss stuff. so i purchased it. was the decision right?

    either way, i plan on starting the series and look forward to sharing my reviews. i hope i can feel welcome in this community.

    Just realized a link between Super Saiyan and Frieza's golden transformation..

    So I was looking at a post in /r/DBZDokkanBattle talking about finally having the best transformation cinematic for Frieza in the game now.

    When I was watching it, I was considering why it looked so cool. I realized it was because you focus all of your tension to your back when you lean backwards; and it looks like he snaps his back quickly before transforming.

    Sound familiar? What other race seems to focus on their back as a way of transforming?

    Maybe his transformation had more homage than he cared to admit?

    I'm just staring DB. I'm on episode 5 and while I like it most shows have a specific arc or moment when the show really "hooks you." For example for me and One Piece it was the Arlong arc. Is there an arc/moment that really made you go "wow I love this show" for original DB?

    Why is Battle of the Gods and Resurrection F called DBZ... and not DBS?

    Title says it all really. Broly is "clearly" a DBS film but, with the previous two being DBZ despite clearly being DBS, I was surprised when they used DBS for it.

    Vegeta tells Moro that He will be going to hell when he dies . Suppose Bulma wonders weather or not Vegeta has done enough to be redeemed by Yemma’s standards and decides to gather the Dragon balls to undo all the evil he has done. Will this wish be beyond Earth Shenron’s Power ?

     Think about this

    Before planet vegeta was destroyed a saiyan was sent to a horrible planet because of its low power level but on the way it runs into whis and berus' space traveling box when whis wasn't paying attention(probably looking at planet vegeta being destroyed) and when they shook the saiyan pod off(were gonna call him the "mystery saiyan") the mystery saiyan was sent to Earth(whis did this on purpose) when sent to Earth he landed in a forest where poachers found him and cut his tail off for money.

     A ranger scared them away after the tail was cut off and got a hold of the baby and from here the saiyan lived a normal life. He had parents and grew up the around the same time as goku and lived with a wife. His power was obviously strong and red ribbon army. Saw him working for construction and took him in for experimenting( Dr. Gero was the person who took him and this happened around the time raditz appearance in the anime/manga) When he was kidnapped, Dr. Gero realized he was strong like goku. After a bit of experimenting Dr Gero was gonna use him as a (human not android) defense against/to kill Goku. Around Frieza saga Dr. Gero knew they were saiyans using his spy robot he uses for Cell (which he will use as a mosquito) so he decided to get blood of the saiyans to power up the mystery saiyan. He got the blood of Goku and Vegeta so far,(wasn't able to get nappa cause he died and was in action most of the time. When trunks first appeared and killed frieza he got the blood of him and also got the blood of gohan. He overheard trunks conversation with goku so he panicked and took the prototype android 16 and modified it to be more powerful than the android 17 and 18 and made more heavily on the task to kill goku( obviously not enough tho) After he finished he went to go to the city like the anime/ manga to give android 16 more time to get perfectly ready. When they destroyed Gero's lab, the mystery saiyan, being a saigan, survived and more powerful too. He doesn't know what just happened so he went back home, just to find his wife's clothes and ring on the ground with cell standing menacingly above them. He gets incredibly mad and starts having a super Saiyan transformation he does this while having flashbacks about the lab. He had flashbacks of the saiyan blood and Dr Gero saiyan he was going to be incredibly powerful. At the end of the flashbacks he starts going super saiyan god. The mystery saiyan screams and yells in anger and his hair starts flashing red but it was only 4 saiyans' dna inside him not 5 so his transformation failed and be fainted. (His ki wasn't noticed by the z fighters because he was going god. Cell went to absorb him after being scared out of his mind but he had a flashback to Dr Gero working on him too so he didn't come to absorb him and said "the only ones of Dr Gero's creations I was meant to absorb was 17 and 18 so for you I'll just kill you" Cell killed him with a blast and after the cell saga he was revived by the dragonballs like everyone else killed by cell. And whis teleports him to berus planet. Fast foward to the present now, where its just whis and the mystery saiyan training. Whis had already explained to him he was about go super saiyan god and he was a saiyan and that his planet was destroyed and etc. The mystery saiyan is super saiyan god and whis is keeping his ki masked so no one senses the myster saiyan. Whis shows him goku and vegeta's power and they talk about going into ssgss blue. So whis sends him into the same dimension he sent vegeta and goku to train for ssgss blue. The myster saiyan gets extremely mad and impatient and screams and powers up so much he shoots a ginormous ki blast and blast a hole throught the dimension making him teleport back to whis and the ki blast makes whis doge and drop his staff, since it caught whis so out of guard, the mystery saiyan transformed into blue from getting mad and shooting the ki blast in that dimension and since whis got a bit mad and teleported behind the mystery saiyan and knocked him out in one swift blow So goku and vegeta sensed that ki blast and instant transmissions to the planet. Vegeta being mad he was training another saiyan behind his back he yells at whis and ask him "How dare you keep another saiyan behind our backs and train him without training us, do you possibly think he can be stronget than me!" Whis says, "yes. This man is going to be the next god of destruction"

    "WHAT!" Both goku and vegeta say "I recommend you meet him" said whis as he takes a step aside and the mystery saiyan stands there with and angry face "Call me Seror" Says the myster saiyan

    Thats something I have thought of i thought it was pretty cool so I put it here. Tell me if its good or not and ask me and questions you have about it

    P.s "seror" is celery in japanese but with the letters a bit mixed up im not very good at names so tell me if you have a better one( has to be a vegetable cause he is a saiyan)
