The single most important thing DragonBall has taught me

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 09:23 AM PDT

Should you ever get into a fight with a genocidal dictator named after a household appliance, a giant people sucking bug, a regenerating bubblegum guy that's killed the entire human race, or a magical space goat that eats planets, please, please finish them off when you have the chance.

    Thank you.

I made this visual comparison of (US) DBZ home releases ages ago and never really posted it anywhere, so I thought it might be worth sharing here. Missing the recent "remaster" and the Rock the Dragon set, unfortunately.

Why I Think Goku and Vegeta Will Lose God Ki

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 08:08 PM PDT

I've been thinking of this for awhile now (probably not close to the first one to think of it), but Chapter 65 has prompted me to actually talk about it. Anyways, idea is that ever since the very start of Dragon Ball Super, hints have been thrown at us that Goku and Vegeta will have their God Ki stripped from them. I will attempt to demonstrate why this with three points:

The Unnecessary Nature of God Ki

The Dwindling Relationship Between them and the G.O.D.

    Embracing Pure Saiyan Power

    1. God Ki Was False Roadblock from the Start

It begins with Goku achieving Super Saiyan God and how he feels about it. This is the dialogue exchange between Goku and Beerus during their second encounter:

Beerus: Whats the matter? You seem disappointed.

    Goku: Honestly, yeah.

Beerus: Why? Don't you like being a deity?

Goku: Its not the power, its what it took to get it and what that means.

Beerus: and that limit disturbs you?

    Goku: Yeah...

The entire setup for Super was Goku casting away what pride he had in order to protect the Earth. Very noble, but its clear the decision irked him. It goes against practically his whole mantra to have attained this supernatural ki, not only has he diverged from his natural Saiyan abilities, but it was strength handed to him, not something he worked for. Thats not something I believe to be overlooked, considering this boon shakes the entire foundation of who Goku is. A person who believes with enough hard work, it doesn't matter what your status is, you can still come out on top. God ki had fundamentally destroyed this system, atleast for the meantime.

This whole idea that this realm was unattainable without God Ki was immediately squashed very first arc. Vegeta, in a moment of intense rage, was able to ascend past even Goku's Super Saiyan 3 form and momentarily toss around Beerus. Though he still wasn't close to Beerus' level, this feat alone is very striking that even a regular SSJ could touch the seemingly untouchable. In the Golden Frieza Arc, their old nemesis had achieved a power on the same level of Goku and Vegeta in their Blue forms just by training for a few months. Hit from the Universal Six Arc was able to actually push Goku beyond even his Super Saiyan Blue, and Trunks achieved strength relative to the same godly realm through rage, similar to his father. Lastly, we have Jiren, one of the strongest in the Multiverse, and a mortal at that. He had no God Ki and no godly transformations, but through intense training and dedication, Jiren was almost a slap to the face of Goku, who even attained the godly technique, Ultra Instinct. Each of these foes had broken through their limit as mortals, as opposed to Goku and Vegeta who continued to break through their limits as gods instead. On a symbolic level, Goku and Vegeta have become the "elites" (gods) that the "low class"(mortals) have showed up time and time again. The two never really needed God Ki, it was a crutch to get past an immediate threat.

    1. Z Fighters on Thin Ice with the Gods

Goku and company have been meddling in affairs that threatened the balance of the universes more than once. While not directly responsible, Goku helped pushed Zamasu into initiating his Zero Mortal Plan. While of course Goku is not entirely at fault, Zamasu's urges were suppressed until he met the Saiyan. This encounter led to an entire string of events that almost had every god and mortal killed. On top of that, we learn Time Travel is actually a universal crime. Mortals are not suppose to mess with the timeline, but Trunks did on multiple occasions. By the end of the arc, Beerus reprimands Goku for becoming so reliant on their help. Their relationship is pushed even further then Goku's naivety gets the ball rolling on the Tournament of Power.

Despite both Whis and Beerus' warnings on dealing with Zeno to start the Tournament, Goku is eager to start it even with the danger it presents. It got to the point where Beerus was about to kill Goku without remorse, finding his own recklessness more dangerous to lives than perhaps even Zeno himself. At the end of the day it worked out alright, but only because 17 made a selfless wish on the Dragon Balls. If another universe had won and decided to make a different wish, they would have all failed Zeno's test and would have all been erased from existence.

*Spoilers Ahead for those not on the current Arc of Super in the Manga, you have been warned\*

Goku's involvement with the angel Merus eventually inspired him to break Angel Law, resulting in his erasure from existence. While again, he didn't directly kill Merus, his deep involvement with the gods and angels once again helped result in tragedy. Beerus even seemed the most despondent hes ever been when its come to Goku's problems, making their relationship clear to the readers,

"Preserving Earth's gourmet goodies is the only reason I ever save those idiots."

When Beerus and Whis sense Merus starting to use his angel powers, they immediately go to try to stop him to avoid the wrath of the Grand Priest (yet to be seen though, but its bound to have some consequences)

Goku, due to being himself, inadvertently puts the universe in jeopardy once again by helping Moro attain angelic power. The Earthlings affairs with the gods seem to be coming to a close with these catastrophic events that find Goku at the center. It seems rather apparent that as some point soon, the G.O.D are going to do something about the crew for all their infringements. If not for the sake of punishment, then for the sake of protection.

    1. The Broly Movie Gave the Setup for a Saiyan Evolution

After the events of Broly, I can't help but see this as a wake up call to Goku and Vegeta. Broly's power isn't just because hes "new" antagonist on the block, the fact remains that through his Saiyan strength alone, Broly was able to push Vegeta and Goku to SSJ, SSJG, SSGSS, and eventually to fusion. He showed the two that as Saiyans, they could have achieved god-like power by becoming stronger as just Saiyans and not Saiyans gods. Goku goes as far as to even accept his birth name out of the immense respect he has for Broly, commenting the Saiyan might even be stronger than Beerus (backed up by the promotional material that stated Broly was stronger than G.O.D)

To supplement this, Broly's Wrath State is a very similar in concept to the Super Saiyan 4 transformation, condensing the power of the Great Ape in humanoid form. Though not canon to Super, GT Perfect Files describes SSJ4 as pretty much the Saiyan evolution equivalent of Potential Unleashed, "The form which draws out the battle power which Saiyans posses out to the utmost limits " (https://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14812)

If this is true for Broly's Wrath State as well, it gives our protagonists a new avenue that makes god power even more irrelevant. If Broly can do it, why can't they? While there may have been exceptions as to why other aliens could reach a god level, theres now no restriction on Goku and Vegeta since one of their own has done so. Them being stripped of God Ki provides a do-over for them, training them to get back to the level of power they now know they can reach for on their own.

    ____

As a side note to all this, them being stripped of God Ki fits neatly into the end of Dragon Ball. If Super doesn't plan to go past it, everything makes a little more sense. Being disassociated from the gods and angels would explain why Beerus and Whis aren't present at the Tournament or mentioned. Goku and Vegeta being weaker makes Uub that much more of a believable person for Goku to be excited about.

    ____

Thanks for taking your time to read that, I would love to hear your thoughts :)

At one point in time during the frieza saga, krillin could have killed frieza

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 09:32 PM PDT

when he try to run away after being healed from getting stabbed, and use the solar flare and actually blinded frieza for a brief moment enough time to make a run for it.

that little time he could have used the kienzan and kill him right there.

Please give Vegeta a Solo Win!

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 04:50 PM PDT

Ive been reading + watching DBZ since I was a kid, and I'm getting sick of the repetitive "Goku is being beat only to be 'saved' by Vegeta, who is then beat and needs to be saved by Goku" that happens every new arc.

I was really expecting Vegeta to finally have his moment against Moro, but instead it was same old same old. Its getting annoying and honestly Goku is getting a bit stale as a character, I just want to see some other characters beat strong-ass villains for a change.

Just for fun I completely changed the choreography of the gohan vs cell fight, and made it so that gohan is beating the crap out of the cell jrs. and cell simultaneously. Also changed the music to make it badass. Proud of the first half, but the end needs a lot of work.

Did people dislike Kai? If so, why?

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 10:51 AM PDT

I thoroughly enjoyed it, as it's what I grew up with (being born in 2001) so Kai was part of MY Saturday cartoons. I've seen parts of og DBZ but it really does drag on for too long. Anyways I was just hoping to see what others had to say.

    SS2 Goku Vs Majin Vegeta

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 09:55 PM PDT

Do y'all think goku was holding back vs vegeta during this fight? Yes he could've went SS3 but remember how long it takes, how he could not sustain that form very long, and he said he barely practiced this transformation in other world. So was goku intentionally holding back or was he unsure if he could pull of SS3 at this time?

    Some thoughts on DBS trnsformations

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 07:42 PM PDT

    1. Is SSBE (Super Saiyan Blue Evolved) the same as Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan 2?
    2. Could Goku mix Mastered Ultra Instinct with KaioKen the way he does with SSB?
    3. What if Vegeta learned KaioKen and mixed it with SSBE
    4. What if Goku and Vegeta fused while Vegeta was in SSBE and Goku was in MUI?

If anyone has theories to these please share
