How Future Gohan could have defeated the Androids

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 12:31 PM PST

So I've always loved Future Gohan, he's prob my fav incarnation of Gohan and it's sad how his story ended (although his death had to happen in order for Trunks to ascend, grow stronger and time travel). But I always wondered....why couldn't Future Gohan grow stronger and defeat the Androids?. Due to the Androids ravaging the Future I assumed Tech like the Gravity Training room wasn't possible, they didn't know where New Namek was and Goku presumably never told him where Korin's lookout was, so the Super God Water wasn't possible to consume and Future Gohan didn't know how to properly train himself. Even though he gained Trunks as a sparring partner Trunks couldn't push him, and he also spent lots of time training Trunks to become a SSJ in the anime (although in the manga it seems he already had SSJ but was very weak and couldn't sustain it for long if I'm not mistaken.) But I have a little theory about how Future Gohan COULD have defeated the androids, but it depends if we use the Anime or Manga, but let's start with Anime.

So as we all know, the Special Beam Cannon is a technique used by Piccolo. The Technique can grow stronger but it depends on how much it is charged, and if the opponent dodges it. Gohan used his own variation of the Special Beam Cannon whilst image-training with Krillin (I'm unsure if this filler or not, but I'm VERY sure Gohan knows how to use the Special Beam Cannon, and it wouldn't be too hard for him to master). So as I was saying, Future Gohan most likely knows the technique, and I think if he played his cards right he could have used this technique to defeat one or both of the androids (depending how he fired it.) Now your probably wondering....well since the Androids can sense ki ithey'd sense the power increase of the Special Beam Cannon and put a stop to it before it killed them, but the Androids CAN'T sense ki. 17 flat out said so in the manga, and 18 can't either although Krillin most likely taught her how to sense Ki AFTER, but we're talking about the Future Androids who are MUCH weaker than the Androids we know.

So I think if Future Gohan could goad Future 17 into taking the blast head on 17 would fall for it, and be obliterated, since the Future Androids are cold and cocky due to having so much power. Then only 18 would be left and unlike in the Anime its shown that Future Gohan could take on 17 and was BEATING the shit out of him until 18 intervened, although one could argue Future 17 was holding back. But I think with Future Gohan and Trunks fighting against 18 who was weaker than her brother, they could most likely defeat her as well, and even if they couldn't defeat her they could go back and train, and come back much stronger since the stronger Android is gone.

As for the Manga, I think it'd be even EASIER. Let's say for this occasion in the Manga Gohan orders Trunks to hold 18 off whilst he fights against 17. Trunks has SSJ and although he's nowhere near 18 in strength he could most likely take her by surprise by going SSJ and have enough time to hold her off, in fact I don't even think Gohan would need Trunks to hold them off all he has to do is goad 17 or both Androids into taking the blast and their finished. Now if you want calculations for how much stronger the Special Beam Cannon can get, just ask or dm and I'll be willing to share. Thx for reading this post I know it's long sorry, but I've gotten more into power scaling and this was always a question for me. If you think some points are wrong I'll be happy to give a rebuttal thanks!

Was the bit in the DBZ Anime where Nappa wiped out an army in the manga?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 06:24 PM PST

Currently working on a theory and I wanted to know if it's applicable to both the anime and the manga. During the Saiyan Saga while they're waiting for Goku (post-Saibamen, pre-Piccolo's death) Nappa fucks off and annihilates a massive army. I'm willing to bet it was just filler, but any chance it was actually in both the anime and the manga?

Do people ACTUALLY think that dbz abridged is better than the original?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 04:06 PM PST

I see so many memes that use clips of dbz abridged and the comments are always filled with "DBZ ABRIDGED > DBZ OG". Do people actually think that? Yeah its FUNNIER, but i dont think its BETTER. Imo it got old after a while, they wouldnt fucking let go of the nappa joke. The og has so many iconic and serious scenes, and the abridged takes all the coolness and serious out of the scenes (i get thats the point but still dont see how people could actually think thats better)

    Goku’s Final Form

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 09:09 PM PST

What if Goku were to do the following (all at once)....

    1. Turn into Oozaru
    2. Go SSJ3
    3. Concentrate the Ape (SSJ4)
    4. Activate God Ki (SSJG)
    5. Activate Autonomous Ultra Instinct
    6. Utilize Kaio Ken

Would he die... or.....? I mean is this not possible? (If SSJ4 was canon)

Essentially, he would be "Ultra Instinct Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan 4 (3) + Kaio Ken"

If Guldo had any intelligence or skills, he would have been the most powerful entity/most dangerous threat in the universe during the Saiyan/Namek saga.

Dragon Ball Z at the Japanese Box Office? A Race to Top the Charts!

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 07:49 AM PST

As a fan of both Dragon Ball and Godzilla, as well as a box office junkie, it has always been a point of frustration for me that it is difficult to track down how successful my favorite franchises were at the Japanese box office. All the sites that track their pre-2002 grosses are in Japanese, and many only track films that earned over 1 billion yen. It took a bit of digging, understanding of the yen, and lots of Google translate, but I have put together a list of the box office grosses of all Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball Super films.

A couple things are worth noting here. First, every release prior to Battle of Gods (2013) was part of the triannual Toei Manga Festival, which would run during spring, summer, and winter vacation. Essentially, each March, July, and December, a compilation of shorter anime films from Toei would be released to theaters to coincide with kids being out of school. The majority of the Dragon Ball films were released as part of either the March or July festivals, so there were generally two films per year.

Some of you might be wondering why History of Trunks, Bardock: The Father of Goku, and Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy are not on this list. While much longer than a typical episode, all three of these were specials that were aired on television in Japan, just like the TV show. Thus, they are not included.

And now, the list. All films include the Dragon Ball Z branding unless noted. All numbers shown are in millions of yen. Not adjusted for inflation (adjusting doesn't make as much difference with Japanese yen as it would for American dollars).

    1. Dragon Ball Super: Broly (2018) – ¥4,000m
    2. Resurrection F (2015) – ¥3,740m
    3. Battle of Gods (2013) – ¥2,990m
    4. Return of Cooler (1992) – ¥1,600m
    5. Super Android 13 (1992) – ¥1,500m
    6. Broly: Second Coming (1994) – ¥1,450m
    7. Cooler's Revenge (1991) – ¥1,400m
    8. Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan (1993) – ¥1,370m
    9. Bojack Unbound (1993) – ¥1,310m
    10. Lord Slug (1991) – ¥1,300m
    11. Fusion Reborn (1995) – ¥1,270m
    12. Bio Broly (1994) – ¥1,120m
    13. The World's Strongest (1990) – ¥950m
    14. Dragon Ball: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle (1987) – ¥850m
    15. Wrath of the Dragon (1995) – ¥850m
    16. Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies (1986) – ¥800m
    17. Tree of Might (1990) - ¥800m
    18. Dead Zone (1989) – ¥720m
    19. Dragon Ball: Mystical Adventure (1988) – ¥630m
    20. Dragon Ball: The Path to Power (1996) – ¥600m

Because you may be curious, Dragon Ball Evolution (2009) made about ¥830m. That's considerably better than I would have expected. It actually outgrossed some fairly popular American films that year, such as Watchmen, Twilight, and Star Trek. It made almost as much money in Japan as it did in America, which very rarely happens considering how much larger the North American market is.

The general consensus seems to be that Dragon Ball's popularity peaked in Japan around the Cell Saga, and the box office data does indeed support that conclusion. But it's worth noting that the series has seen a huge resurgence in popularity in recent years, possibly due to the three most recent films being full theatrical releases independent of any Festival. I expect the next film, whenever that comes out, to finish high up on the list.

    Would that be possible?

    DBZ on Amazon video

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 05:49 PM PST

Does anyone know why the first three seasons on Amazon prime video are $17.99 and then season 4 is $79.99? And some seasons aren't even available for purchase to stream. Seems odd they don't have the full series for a uniform price.

Is Mai fully younger or did she just change her appearance?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 04:28 PM PST

I always thought Mai and Trunks were weird together because of how Mai was an old lady. And in DBS shes around the same age as trunks (physically atleast). I wouldn't find it weird if she just reset herself entirely, but if she just made herself younger physically and not all together then its kinda gross. So which is it? Did she use the Dragon balls to simply change her look or did she like completely reset into a kid?
