I might get some hate on this but I believe that Raditz should have been in the series more.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 08:08 AM PDT

I feel as though Radits didn't get enough love and would have been an amazing character, but he never really did get a spot in dragon ball.

He would have changed the story to a very different degree sure but I think it would have been just as good if not better.

Drew this for the Goku redraw trend that was going on

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 12:17 PM PDT

Prediction: Ever since the original dragon ball, the series has always had a tendency to up the scale on deities, first korin, then kami, then kayo and so on and so forth. I think I might know what the next step is.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 06:19 PM PDT

Zeno is currently the supreme being of the dragon ball universe, and as suggested by his attitude and power, there doesn't seem to exist anything mightier then him. That he knows, that is.

Even for the mighty zeno, the power that rules over even him is time itself, since the multiverse rule applies to him. So the next step on deities is a deity that controls the time at their will or at least keeps it relatively secure

IIRC the xenoverse games had a time kaioh, but I don't remember how the hierarchy worked with that one

    I genuinely love DBGT.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 09:56 AM PDT

The baby saga was genuinely AMAZING in my opinion, better than the Buu saga if you ask me.

The art style was much better than Super. The theme song. It was good that Goten and Trunks AGED and their personalities with them. The ending, piccolo's death, seeing all those old characters when goku was saving everyone on earth, now all grown up and stuff. I love it. I could see myself being happy with this as the series' complete ending until Son Goku and his friends return.

That being said it is my least favourite DB series (i really like this franchise if you couldn't tell), but unlike Super it isn't really frustrating.

What about you, do you like GT?

Why Gohan's Ultimate form is the way it is.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 07:21 PM PDT

So according to the DBSuper Manga- Gohan's Ultimate form is the way it is because of his HUMAN half. That's why is hair stays black and his ki is white. When old kai unleashed his full potential, it was his human side that had the most power. Personally I think it's brilliant. Neither in the DBZ manga or anime is this explantion given, and i'm willing to bet they hadn't thought of that at the time. If anyone has another explanation (Besides Toriyama being lazy) I'd love to hear it.

Blind Dragon Ball Sequels Review: Part 1 - Black Star Dragon Ball Saga (DBGT)

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 01:16 PM PDT

I'm watching the dragon ball sequels for the first time, then making a review of each major story arc, credit goes to /u/Crpal for the way this was formatted, Here's a link to an overview of what these reviews are going to include:

    Part 0: Overview

Part 1: Black Star Dragon Ball Saga (DBGT)

    Sub Plots:

Before Blast-Off: Going into this arc, I was told it was going to be the worst dragon ball thing ever created, was it? no, no definitely not that one goes to the red ribbon army saga aka the drop the show 8 times in one arc-arc. Anyways I like how they brought back Emperor Pilaf, even if it was for just half of an episode, the pilaf gang were some of my favorite characters from the original dragon ball. I do feel like Goku's personality as a kid doesn't really match his adult personality- and that just plays into how this arc likes to literally steal ideas from dragon ball and dragon ball z and make them worse - Goku's kid personality worked before because he was the main character, the other characters were just looking into HIS adventure. Goku is technically the mc in dbgt, but his childish personality only works when the plot revolves around him in db, unlike in dbz. Pan feels like the mc in this arc, and I actually like that a lot, I don't think that her and Bulma are all that similar like a lot of people do- I really enjoy her dynamics with some of the other characters.

The Dictatorship: I actually liked this part. You have Giru being introduced in a good way, a mini-arc that sets the tone for the rest of the arc and possibly the series, (the format of them looking for the dragon balls and helping people/going on new adventures along the way??) and a throwback to the original dragon ball WITHOUT LITERALLY FUCKING STEALING WHOLE ASS IDEAS. Which brings me to the next 2 sections:

Oolong copycat shit: Seriously what the actual fuck was this, you'd think that with a whole universe full of millions of planets with many different types of societies within each planet, that our protagonists would land on a planet where they LITERALLY HAVE TO DO THE SAME THINGS THEY DID LIKE 450 EPISODES AGO. I mean seriously if I wanted a bad-big man comes to village > bad-big man wants some pussy or else he's gonna fuck up the village > bad-big man gets outed by Goku and his friends as a fraud after one of our male protagonists dresses up as a female to trick the big bad man > Goku and his friends are doing all this because someone in the village is in possession of a dragon ball and they eventually get the dragon ball > big-bad man turns out to be pretty chill, etc. THEN I WOULD JUST WATCH DRAGON BALL???

Lord Luud: This one wasn't as bad, but Lord Luud is literally the second (possibly even third or fourth if you count the movies) Cell clone we've gotten. You have Cell, a being that is comprised of other people's cells/energy that's will is the will of the one who controls/controlled him. Majin Buu, a being that is comprised of other people's cells/energy that's will was the will of the ones who controlled him. Luud, a being that is comprised of other people's cells/energy that's will is the will of the ones who control him. Also, why didn't Trunks and Goku use super saiyan that much? when you think about it, you have Pan literally being turned into a doll, and Goku is here literally using 0.25% of his power so that he can have a good fight with the guy with the whip and then the whip guy and then the robot instead of saving pan who could possibly be dying??? I fw the blue guys tho the blue guys are cool.

Self-Contained Episodes: The first one with the giant bees and the giant was okay. I didn't really think too much of it. The second one was amazing though, it had great characterization for pan and giru that perfectly set up what happened on Giru's "home planet", and what I think will happen in the baby arc.

Giru's Home Planet: I really honestly didn't see that coming, Giru was one of my favorite characters from this arc before this, and I liked him more when he betrayed them. This was by far the best part of this arc, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it in the baby saga.

Overall: This is just a quick little thing that I didn't know where to put, but I love the slow pacing of this arc. I know many people might not share my opinion on this, but the collective 30 minutes we spent on the spaceship was actually really fun.

    Extra Commentary on some Characters:

Goku: His personality is completely different now, it makes 0 sense but i don't really care so it's fine

Pan: Pan is probably my second favorite character from this arc, she actually feels like a well-written character with an ACTUAL character-arc, unlike some of the other characters from this arc (Goku and trunks)

Trunks: I don't even know why he was in this arc, if you take him out of it don't things end up the same way? He influenced pan's development but that's it, he had no real character of his own.

Giru: Probably the best character of this arc, I'm interested to see what his role will be in the baby saga, and I think I'm going to actually miss his presence in dragon ball super when I do eventually watch it

The Blue People: They literally solo Non-fiction. I mean Goku + Trunks + Pan have more collective Ki than all the people on the real earth combined, so if the blue people came to earth and danced, they could hypothetically incapacitate the whole earth and then shoot everyone ????

    The Blonde Guy: Fuck no

Best Moment: When Pan was told what Giru did and fucked up one of those Sigma force mfs

Worst Moment: The Entire 3rd Dragon Ball retrieval thing

    Predictions:

Giru will betray General Rildo and his home planet when he sees that pan is in danger

Pan, Trunks, and Goku will return to earth by the end of the baby saga

    Ranking The Arcs:

    Black Star Dragon Ball Saga>

(I'm just going to collectively rank the dbsuper and the dbgt arcs since those are the ones I'm reviewing)

Why did Goku stop wearing a kanji in the Android and Buu Sagas, only to revert back to wearing his own kanji in Battle of Gods and most of the Super anime?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 02:21 PM PDT

After the Frieza saga, Goku stopped wearing a kanji on his gi (justified for the Buu Saga as he died at the end of the Android/Cell saga saving Earth from Cell's self-destruction). However, in Battle of Gods and most of the Super anime, he reverted back to wearing his own kanji that he were in the Frieza saga.

Looking for an old DBZ Animated Music Video

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 08:01 PM PDT

I'm wondering if anyone remembers this AMV from around 20 years ago? It was an AMV mostly featuring Vegeta, I believe it was on a site called DBZWorld? It mostly featured clips of him from the Freeza Saga and near the end of the video showed his death and Goku burying him, the music was something techno.

A feasible way a human character could become even more powerful than the highest gods...?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 04:01 PM PDT

This is something I thought about lately with the DB franchise.

Currently, we have the Granolah arc, where the titular antagonist of the story has used the planet Cereal's dragon balls and its dragon Toronbo to make himself supposedly go from a relatively low powered individual to the most powerful being in the universe (seemingly excluding Beerus and Whis, who are top level deities in Universe 7, so more like most powerful MORTAL being in the universe right now).

Of course, this came at a price, that being a limited lifespan, and like I said, even without that hindrance, the power of this dragon seems to be limited (though not as much as earth's Shenron's power, it would appear), as he could not make Granolah more powerful than said deities. That doesn't particularly matter to Granolah, since his beef is with mortals such as Frieza and the Saiyans, but if his wish was to surpass Beerus, Whis, the Grand Priest, or even the Zeno's in power, it is likely the dragon could not have done this.

Now, we know the powers of earth Shenron and most of the other dragons are incredibly limited by current standards. Earth Shenron's power is far lower than that of most of the main cast at this point and is substantially lower than that of high level deities such as Beerus, Whis, etc.. (as such, he proved remarkably useless in the Battle of Gods arc outside of just providing the characters with information about the Super Saiyan God, as he could not actually create one or just transform Goku into one in an instant like Beerus wanted). Even before that, Shenron has always had a set of wish limitations which would make him pretty much useless when discussing scenarios of how to surpass the highest gods.

But then we have Super Shenron, who can allegedly grant wishes without any known limitations like regular Shenron or the other dragons. In theory, he can literally give you anything you please without any restrictions whatsoever. At least, that is what we have been lead to believe. Who knows if this dragon actually has boundaries, but for the sake of this discussion, let's assume he doesn't and he can literally grant any wish you ask for.

Of course, to make sure some power hungry mortal (i.e. Frieza, Cell, Moro, etc..) isn't able to surpass the gods by finding the Super Dragon Balls and wishing to be more powerful than the Omni Kings or something along those lines, there is a catch. Super Shenron only communicates via the Divine language, which only gods and angels understand. As such, a mortal cannot independently ask for something from SS. Like in the Tournament of Power, after Android 17 won, he made his wish, but the Grand Priest had to act as a translator for him (so, if Jiren won and made a selfish wish, like to control and rule over everything for example, the gods could have stopped him, which was part of their whole test plan all along, to see if the winners would be selfless and retain control of the situation in case a tyrannical monster like Frieza won and stop him from using SS to usurp them.

But then it got me thinking... is there a way a mortal being (even a lowly human, for instance) could bypass this? Here's my proposal...

In my scenario, a human manages to collect all the earth's dragon balls and he summons Shenron. He asks to be the most powerful being in the multiverse including the highest gods, but Shenron explains he cannot do this as it would exceed his capabilities to make someone more powerful than the G.O.D's, Angels, or Zeno.

But in this scenario, the human is aware of the existence of the Super Dragon Balls and SS. From what I can understand (this number seems to have varied and been given exceptions and limitations over the years, I'm aware of that), the dragon can grant three wishes. So, the human asks for these three things...

1: "I wish to know the divine language of the gods" (to save time, the dragon just places the information inside his head so that he knows it all).

2: "I wish to know of the locations of the Super Dragon Balls".

3: "I wish to have the power to instantly teleport myself or any other object from one location to another".

From what I can tell, none of these wishes would be things that Shenron couldn't make happen.

Using these new abilities, the human then gathers the SBS, now that he knows where to find them, assembles them all into one place via teleportation, summons SS, and uses the Divine language to speak to him and ask for his wish to be granted. He then tells SS "I wish to be the most powerful being in existence! More powerful than both gods and mortals, even the Omni Kings!"

In theory, SS would have no problem granting this wish, because again, his abilities to grant wishes are supposed to be limitless. This would then make the human more powerful than Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, Whis, The Grand Priest, and by extension the other 4 top fighters in the multiverse alongside him, and even the Omni King's and their guards. This all definitely seems like something Jafar would do if he existed in the DB universe (lol).

Who knows? Maybe one day, Yamcha will get tired of being weak and everyone ridiculing him, will turn evil and will do exactly what I just said. Then everyone will be in trouble. XD

Okay, that sounds more like an outrageous FanFiction idea than anything, but I'm just wondering... would this actually work? Or am I missing something here? Is this all a load of nonsense?

But maybe, just maybe, introducing an element like this into the ongoing story of DB/DBS would be a neat idea. It would certainly shake things up, adding a new level of unpredictably in regards to where everyone sits relative to each other on the power scale while also closing the gap between humans and deities/Saiyans. Maybe doing something along these lines could finally make the likes of Krillin, Yamcha, and Tien relevant again...

Maybe a future arc could address something like this. It would be pretty cool, I think.

(On a side note, why didn't Zamasu, who already knew the Divine language and actually did manage to summon SS, ask for the wish to be the most powerful god in the multiverse, rather than just invincibility or to swap bodies with Goku? Seems like he really wasted a golden opportunity right there. Also, Zeno nor Beerus would have been capable of erasing him. Oh well, if he had done that, he would have won and there would no longer be anymore DBS, so I guess that's my answer...)

AMENDMENT: Someone pointed out to me on another Subreddit after posting this discussion on there that the location of the dragon balls cannot be given by Shenron, as this is beyond his scope. This was shown in the Universe 6 arc.

As such, when Shenron refuses wish number 2, the human character instead opts to wish for an immediate appointment with Zuno (since they would otherwise have to wait years for an available time slot or something like that). They could then obtain information on the whereabouts of the Super Dragon Balls from him instead. Plan still works!

My head cannon for the Cymbal fight in the original Dragon ball

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 06:51 AM PDT

I've probably watched the original Dragon Ball conservatively about 20 times and something always bugged me about the Cymbal fight; during the fight Cymbal blows up the nimbus with a Ki blast and Goku has to get a new one from Korin.

In the Red Ribbon saga Colonel Silver blows the nimbus up too with a rocket launcher and Goku retrieved it by calling out to it after being told "you can't destroy a nimbus cloud". Originally I thought that this was a slip up or translation error or something, later I figured it was cause Ki destroyed it in a different way and was a way of demonstrating Cymbal's power.

Now however I think of it more as a metaphor for Goku losing his innocence, before that fight he had gotten angry before, during this fight it was different, his tail puffed up and his hair stood up, almost like the start of a SSJ transformation. He felt true rage and wanted to not just stop Cymbal, not just kill him, but hurt him and make him pay.

He let darkness creep in, hence was no longer pure of heart and he lost the nimbus, which had become a symbol of his purity. It was only until he went through a cleansing by drinking the ultra divine water that he regained it once more and was able to ride the nimbus again.

Very likely no one cares and the more logical answer is that it was just a way of raising the stakes; however whenever I watch that moment now it just hits different.

    What do you people's think?
