What do you think are some of the worst cases of wasted potential in the series? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 09:23 AM PDT For example, it never any made sense why Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha and Chaozu never learned Kaioken & Spirit Bomb from King Kai during the Namek saga. That could have been a huge game-changer for the series, especially for Piccolo (imagine him using KKx20 at any point of the Android arc). Also, Cell never using Kaioken came across as plot-induced stupidity, especially when up against Gohan. He said he knows Spirit Bomb then that logically means he should also know Kaioken, yet he never uses either smh. any thoughts? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:54 PM PDT I never found much issue with Goten and Trunks achieving Super Saiyan in Z. They not only grew up in a world where Super Saiyan's existence was not only known to not be a legend, but the form itself had already been perfected. Giving them an inherent advantage over any Saiyan before them. The method to achieve was available to them as they both grew up around someone who had it (Gohan and Vegeta, and they were constantly sparring with each other. Combine this with their massive potentials and it isn't that far-fetched. [link] [comments]

Do many Dragon Ball villains have an answer to "And then what?" Posted: 03 Nov 2021 04:57 PM PDT A common problem in fiction is villains who have a motive involving world domination, or killing someone, often the hero, etc, but the problem is, it seems these villains rarely ever think forward to what they'll do after they achieve their goal Some are fine, like Frieza who seems content to just rule as the strongest in the universe his entire life. But others are more confusing. Like, what's King Piccolo's endgame? He wants to kill huge groups of people every year, but he'll run out of people to kill eventually, and then what good is it ruling a dead world? Did Cell even have any plans for after the Cell Games if he'd won? Just be content in being strongest? What would Zamasu do after wiping out all mortals? He never said anything about repopulating the universe. I'm mainly thinking about Thanos in Avengers Endgame here, who doesn't stop at "I'll just wipe out all life this time", he outright says he'll wipe out all life, then create a new universe in place of the old one. Zamasu's just "kill everyone!" and... well, and then what? Of course, this isn't every villain, like I said, but it's there quite a lot. Do you think this is a problem with Dragon Ball? Would you change or add on anything to avoid this? [link] [comments]

(Unpopular?) Opinion: The first Broly isn't that good Posted: 03 Nov 2021 07:34 PM PDT Maybe I'm being too harsh, after all it's a DBZ movie and even the best DBZ movies really aren't THAT good, but dear lord is this movie bad. Despite the stupidity of Broly's character and his hatred for Goku (not my biggest problem with the movie, believe me, but I just had to bring it up), I actually liked the writing and initial premise of this movie up until around the half-way mark. I think any semblance of quality this movie has is immediately lost around halfway through when we get to the fight scenes. I get DBZ is an action shonen, but when half of the movie is just action (terribly animated, unbelievably boring action, I might add), it is absolutely zero fun. While some of the writing is really crap and the animation is mostly mediocre, I think the biggest problem with this movie is that it's SO DAMN BORING. This movie is a little over an hour long and it felt like I was watching it for three hours. When your movie is comprised of 75% Broly lariating people into walls with bad animation, it sucks. Not to mention the ending makes no sense (even by DBZ standards), and is super rushed and lame. Broly: Second Coming is honestly better than this movie in almost every way. [link] [comments]

About Paragus' death in both films. Posted: 03 Nov 2021 04:41 PM PDT While Paragus murdered by Broly in Movie 8 when he try to escape Planet Todekama on a space pod while in DBS: Broly, Paragus got murdered by Frieza's beam and lied that he got killed by a "random death beam out of nowhere", that makes Broly mad. Which one is sort of canon to both scenarios? [link] [comments] |
