Weird DBZ rumors from the old days.

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 03:36 PM PST

When DBZ first aired in the US and Canada, we were way behind the times and it took years for the dub to catch up. As a result, there were tons of kids making up inaccurate rumors about things to come (cell, broly, buu, ect,)

    Which ones do you remember?

I was inspired to ask this because today I was talking with a friend and he said "didn't Krillin get revealed as one of the dragonballs at the end?"

I thought it was hilarious, but it's also easy to see how a middle school kid would look at the dots on his head and make that up.

Am I the only one to find Future Trunk's design in SUPER to be half-assed?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 02:45 PM PST

His designs in Z and in the movies were so much better and why is his hair blue? lol?

Why were Bulma/Chichi/Videl shocked when Goku told them Vegeta and Gohan were dead?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 07:26 PM PST

Didn't they just make a wish for Shenron to revive everyone who died? Even if they forgot Vegeta wasn't a good person anymore, why didn't anyone say "but we just revived everyone"

Just Realized the Organizing Theme of the Android/Cell Arc

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 10:13 PM PST

It's time. Trunks comes from the future with a prophecy of doom, and all the characters' actions from that point on are mostly futile attempts to prevent it from happening. They train, but it's not enough to beat the Androids; Trunks saves Goku, but also lets Cell show up in their timeline, they try to steal some time by going into the Hyperbolic Chamber, but training there doesn't make Goku or Vegeta strong enough to beat Cell. They ultimately win not by cheating time, but moving with the passage of time - that is, by trusting Gohan, the representative of the next generation. (Vegeta also helps, unexpectedly changed by the death of his own son).

Anyway, obviously it's no big revelation that time travel is the premise of the Android Arc, but on reflection I was impressed at how well all the major story points in the arc fit with it. I've usually thought of the Android Arc as kinda messily written, with lots of editorial interference, but on reflection I think Toriyama managed to tell a really well-organized story. Thoughts welcome!

    Ascended Saiyan Thought

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 08:44 PM PST

Currently revisiting the Cell saga and I'm wondering just how Vegeta even got the random idea that a power level beyond SS (at the time) could be achieved. He only stated that he "won't stop there" at the SS1 form. I'm definitely not new to the series being 30 and have watched this series since age 9 or 10 but let me know what you guys think.

    What's up with the Angels?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 08:09 PM PST

I've been recently rewatching Super and when Who's mentions that the Angels were exempt from the erasure during the Universal Tournament It made me curious........I'm a non manga reader sadly but I was wondering if they ever explain why they weren't in danger of being erased.......If it's too spoiler related I understand if no one answers this but I just found it odd that the Kaioshin as well as God's of Destruction were erased but not them.

Is the Namek saga the most dragged arc in DBZ?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 10:56 AM PST

I watched every episodes of DBZ and i think the namek one drages the most, they play cat and mouse for too long,i liked it till Vegeta killed Zarbon but after that it feels too long and sometimes feels boring.

Buu was padded but arguably atleast some things happened, tho i like the Naem arc more then Buu but strecheng it that much made it fom a good arc to just an overall decent arc, they ruinied it in the anime.

Anyway i think the Buu saga and the Namek one drag the most.
