Opinions on Broly Fight and Ultra Instinct

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 08:47 PM PDT

So gathering some opinions on this. My friend and I are having a bit of a disagreement. Is the scene where the background goes whacky during their fight with Broly just them breaking into another dimension, or is it Vegeta experiencing Goku's partial Ultra Instinct state while fused.

There are a lot of similarities in the silver/paleblue/palepink aura that surrounds them at this point and during ultra instinct. My friend argues that his hair is still blue, but I said that's because only one of them can access ultra instinct, and even then it's not fully under his control. Even a little later in the fight, he starts dodging attacks and hitting hardest towards the end of the fight with the aura.

Seems weird to use the same colour scheme if it's just for cool effects when the show is so focused on specific colours meaning certain things. Curious what other people thought of this.

Here is a pic of ultra instinct:https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/dragonball/images/b/b9/Ultra_Instinct_Goku.png/revision/latest?cb=20180930060236

Were you disappointed at what happened to Piccolo after the Cell saga?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 11:44 AM PDT

Vegeta stole his thunder. Piccolo and Goku became friends, Piccolo finally embraced his goodness, so their arc had nowhere else to go. Vegeta never truly got to completely erase his dark side: he remained selfish, aggressive and with a grudge against Goku for a longer time. There was far more to work with when it was about those two Saiyans.

Nevertheless, what happened to Piccolo, was unworthy of his arc. He went from being as strong as a Saiyan to a side character, stronger than Tien or Krillin, yet out of Goku and Vegeta and Gohan's league, and the way he was treated during the Bu saga was shameful. The writers didn't know what to do with Piccolo and it showed.

    Favorite Dialouge

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 11:54 AM PDT

I know most us could go on and on about our favorite dialouge from DB and DBZ, but I'm more interested in hearing about your favorite dialouge or monologue from Super.

I'm not particular on whether the dialouge comes from the sub or dub, I just want to know your favorite dialouge or monologue from Super is?

The first one that stands out to me is Vegito's "I'm sorry is this hurting you? Aren't you invincible?" Agaisnt Zamasu.

The second one is possibly my favorite line in the show, that I can remember at least, after Vegeta puts Belmod in his place during the ToP he yells to Goku "Come on Kakarot! Find a way! I entrusted everything to you...my pride, my promise, everything! I won't tolerate failure! Trespass into the domain of the Gods and use that might to conquer Jiren. Do it, Kakarot!" It gives me chills everytime.

I'm excited to read your responses! If you feel you want to share a moment from DB or DBZ please do, I just don't see much talk about Super dialogue. Thanks!

What is your ranking of each saga of DBZ And DBS? (Spoilers)

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 07:29 PM PDT

    My rankings

DBZ: 1. The Cell Saga- I can't really describe why I love this one so much. The Cell Saga is just so well crafted. Although it's one of the least liked sagas, it's definitely my shining #1. For me, the Cell Saga was the peak DBZ. Don't get me wrong, the other sagas are great but this one is just... Perfect. Cell is really a great villain, and one of my favorite anime antagonists ever. Perfect Cell's theme is awesome. SSJ2 Gohan. Gohan vs Cell was a great fight, though It's very long. But not only Gohan was the star, Vegeta and Trunks were really awesome characters as well.

    1. The Saiyan Saga- What kicked off the events of this adventure into the world of DBZ, I think that the Saiyan Saga is THE best saga, as in it's #1, but Cell Saga is my favorite. The reason I think this one is so good it's because not everyone is broken as hell. An example of this was the classic, Goku vs Vegeta. At the end of the fight, none of them won. Both were on death's door. Plus, everything was so tense and so much action around the place, like when the gang was fighting Nappa, and you're just waiting for Goku to get across Snake Way fast enough, and again, it's all just so tense.

    2. Namek Saga- While a great one, this one is one of my lesser liked ones. I know some of you will disagree, I feel like this one is too long and is just a mindless chase after the namekian dragon balls. While it has one of the most iconic moments ever in an anime show (maybe all of tv), and witnessing Goku go SSJ for the first time sent chills down my spine, again, it's just too long. But hey, at least it ended with an awesome fight.

    3. Buu Saga- I don't hate the Buu Saga. I just think it was not written well. My only major disagreement with this is that Gohan should have been the main character for the final saga. I know many people have said this, but I'll say it again. By defeating Cell prior to the Buu Saga, Gohan had taken his father's title as the Earth's protector. I know he was busy with school and leading a normal life, but still I'm sticking to my opinion. But it really isn't bad. It introduced many awesome concepts and scenes, like SSJ3, and fusion, and Potara. And I really like all the fights. My favorite scene is when Buu destroys the Earth, and Goku and Vegeta are struggling to save some of the characters. You can really feel that the characters are in a pickle, and are in the heat of the moment.

I'll summarize DBS: 1. Universe Survival/ToP- great fights, UI, a lot of action

    1. Future Trunks- While I liked Goku Black and SS Rage and SS Rosé, I hate Zamasu. With a burning, flaming passion. I automatically hate any character who just rambles on "Hurr durr, I shall bring justice unto world! Kneel before me, puny mortals/evil!" Zamasu is one of the most god damn annoying characters in all of fiction I have ever seen. He's just a whiny little annoying sack of crap and I'm glad he:s more dead than a person could literally be.

    2. U6- cool characters and fights

    3. BoG- just the movie with some changes. But hey, we got Beerus and Whis.

    4. RoF- Again the movie, except I hate Frieza and I always have.

    Just finished DBZ. My thoughts

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 10:50 PM PDT

So it took me a while to finally sit down and binge Dragon ball z. Here are some of my thoughts as a first time watcher.

Voice acting lacked throughout the show. But, not so much where it ruined it for me. It's fine.

Goku is by far my favorite character. I got a little upset with the whole "pass the torch" thing. But, that's because i love Goku so much.

Tien Shinhan deserved more development. Obviously he could never be a saiyan or something crazy but he should have much more power so he could be more important to the show. Stronger than piccolo at least.

Freeza Saga was the best saga and my favorite by far. Everything about it was done perfectly. The speech given by Vegeta when on the ground 10/10. The speech Goku gave when he turned super saiyan 10/10.

The voice actor that played young Goku in Dragon ball and young Gohan in DBZ 10/10 voice. Loved hearing her talk.

Overall this show turned me into a fan. I love DBZ!

The future trunks timeline isn’t all that dark (in dbz)

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 09:48 PM PDT

The reason I'm saying this is because in other anime's when you die your basically done. But it's different in dbz. If you die you either go to heaven or hell. And we know that basically all of the characters we know mainly are going to heaven. Vegeta is the only one that's most likely in hell although he did change when he saw goku die and fight the androids, it was to late. However since we know things work differently in the future and the past if things are interfered with, he could be in heaven even though I highly doubt it. The only thing i see that's very dark is dbs because of the fact that everyone form the future timeline basically doesn't exist anymore. Also I never understood why goku and king Kai didn't even speak with trunks. Nor did goku use his visits to help trunks in any way:m. I'm 99% sure that goku has been training in otherworld.

    The New Future timeline

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 08:35 PM PDT

    F. Trunks had a good reason to just stay back on the present timeline with family and friends to rely on, but he chose to go back to his own timeline. As mad I was back then, I feel its totally understandable because had he stayed back he'd soon become a fodder to Vegeta and Goku like the rest of the Z, and he'd also lose his charm of being a strong cameo character.

With that said here is a potential future timeline I pictured which is inspired from many different fanfics. Trunks goes back to the future, where there is another version of him. The OG of that timeline decides to sit back from fighting and focus on rebuilding technologically advance civilization so they can rely on manpower if a new threat comes in. He becomes the CEO of Cap Corps like Gt and together with his mom creates a tech uprising. The other Trunks focuses on training harder and becoming the Hercules of that timeline and keep being the warrior as he is stronger. Mai starts leading the new Capsule Corp Army thats fueled by Bulmas gadgets. The other Mai becomes a stay at home mom and raises Trunks kids, lets call him Pants. One of the trunks decides to find out 16 and activates him to have a sparring partner, with no Goku to kill 16 might just become a nice ally. Yajirobe researches and creates the Senzu formula and becomes a permanent helping hand, they also bring out Roshi. Also assuming Broly is alive, Supreme Kai discovers him and offers him to visit Earth, some scenario plays out and he becomes an ally too.

In conclusion, we get a new uprising of warriors lead by SSR Trunks and includes 16, Broly, a batmanesque combatant Mai with her technologically advanced armed force, Pants, Yajirobe and Roshi. And also OG Trunks and Bulma leading the tech advancement.

Do I think this is the best scenario, maybe or maybe not. But that's all I could picture of having two separate trunks and mai.

Another scenario I imagined included that timeline having everything similar to future except there is no future trunks and mai, instead they have future gohan who survived and went ssj2 after trunks was killed and ended up actually killing all the androids, and mai being replaced by Pilaf, who helps out Gohan as a hand. Bulma is alive but never ended up perfecting the timeline and Gohan also defeated Cell and Buu.

Does anyone have the reverse audio for any of the Super Shenron wishes in the Funimation dub?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 07:35 PM PDT

The "language of the gods" is literally just speaking backwards, right? Easy enough in Japanese, but English doesn't really work as well for that. But hearing Zamasu and GP's lines, it doesn't sound like they just reversed the VA's deliveries. Sounds like they really just learned their lines backwards

Does anyone happen to have audio of their lines reversed? I'm curious how close it would sound to as if it were being spoken normally. Looked all over, but no luck so far

    What's the most underrated DragonBall/Z/Super/GT episode/movie/special?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 07:23 PM PDT

People who watched/read DBZ during the 90's, what was it like seeing Goku transform for the first time? Or other epic transformations?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 06:46 AM PDT

This is a question I am interested in, especially if people were in Japan at the time. The Japanese release obviously was much earlier than the American one.

What are some good 'What-Ifs' from Dragon Ball Z?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 08:12 AM PDT

Moments where the plot could have gone totally in a different direction if characters had behaved a little differently.

E.g. if Dende had just healed Goku himself rather than them needing to wait for him to be healed by the tank in Frieza's ship, he could have taken Frieza easily in his first form, Namek would never have been destroyed, Krillin and Vegeta would never have been killed and Goku would never have become a Super Saiyan. Which I guess would have left the gang well below par when Dr Gero's Androids showed up.

(Oh, who am I kidding, Goku would have let him transform into his final form because that's the kind of shit he does, and things would have progressed as normal.)

Could the Z Fighters have taken Perfect Cell without Gohan needing to go SSJ2?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 08:06 AM PDT

Assuming Goku hadn't been Goku and given Cell a Senzu Bean, could the rest of the gang have worn him down enough for someone to finish him off? He'd already fought Goku and regenerated half his body from Goku's Instant Transmission attack, which IIRC drains energy as well, although I think it was suggested he may have been holding back against him too.

If something happened/was said in the manga but not anime, is it filler?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 04:59 PM PDT

If an event/action happened or somebody said something in the manga but it was not shown in the anime, does it mean it wasn't canon?
