Bringing in King Cold cheapened Frieza's character

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 11:23 AM PDT

The entire Frieza saga(and even the lead-up with the Saiyan saga) did a great job establishing him as the most dominant, powerful universal tyrant with absolutely no equals.

But then at the start of the android saga they bring a one-off character King Cold, somebody who had no use of anything and was quickly disposed of anyway. We learn that Frieza is a daddy's boy who has a father who has a much more vast empire, is the true OG of the planet trade org and for a long time some fans even believed he was more powerful than Frieza. Ruining a lot of Frieza's mystique.

It would have been much better if they either had Frieza being killed by Goku on Namek or atleast come over to earth by himself. What was AT's point in even creating King Cold? Thoughts please.

Does anyone have a legit list of watching the entire DB saga in chronological order with movies fit in?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 02:41 PM PDT

I'm rewatching the entire saga but throwing in all of the movies (or trying to) in chronological order and I just want to see if anyone has a good list.

I tried making one from various sources on releases and possible fit in but it just doesn't seem to go together right.

I'm currently on episode 124 and have watched all DB movies up to this point in a sort or correct order but I'm trying to get a list together with movies added in before I continue. I'm not watching Kai with this so the list would have to be built around the original DBZ.

    Thanks for any help.

Edit: Well shucks, thanks for the input.

[Unpopular Opinion] I like the Goku in Super

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 01:59 PM PDT

Disclaimer: Just for good measure, I'm gonna put spoiler-tags for even the most popular / obvious events in Dragon Ball.

A lot of people (especially in YouTube comments) say that he's too goofy and silly in Super and he lost the shreds of maturity that he had in Z. I agree for the most part, but I actually like that. So I agree in a positive connotation. In a way, it shows just how far he has come and how much shit he's went through so he's able to mentally handle what's ahead of him. Plus, people tend to forget about how pissed he was in Super when he found out Zamasu killed Goten and Chi Chi and when Jiren's PTSD struck and he went to attack the U7 bench.

So things like his speech to Vegeta before they fused in Z are definitely awesome and I absolutely love it when he gets mature like that, but I also love his nearly pure goofiness in Super all the same.

Anyone else appreciate both or do you guys like one over the other?

    My attempt at drawing Trunks.

Trunk's Epilogue in DBZA is so Underrated

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 07:12 AM PDT

Considering it is technically the last of the series, I'm surprised it doesn't get much more discussion We all know how amazing all parts of episode 60 are, but Epilogue is my favorite epsiode to rewatch. The fights with The Androids and Cell may be quick but satisfying as all hell. Its nice to see Trunks just be able to just smack everyone who ruined his time line down with little to no real retaliations being possible for either party. We also get more banter from 17 (who is such an underrated character in DBZA in my opinion) It also contains a great character moment for Trunks right before he kills 17:

17: Any Chance that I could talk you out of this? Trunks: What was My Master's Name? 17: Huh? Trunks: The man who taught me. The man whose arm you took. The man you killed. What was his name? 17: Goooo... ku Jr...? Trunks: WRONG ANSWER (Proceeds to obliterate him)

Then of cours Trunks imitating his father's line with Cell Cell: YOU THINK YOU'RE CUTE? Trunks: Bitch (Goes SS) I'm Adorable

Then my favorite line in the series is when Trunks yells "GET OUT OF MY FUCKING TIMELINE" when he annihilates Cell

Its not better than 60, but it is still my favorite just because it feels satisfying while also just being a really funny episode

How come everyone could see Trunks fighting Frieza except Bulma?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 02:42 PM PDT

When Trunks was fighting Frieza in the sky, Bulma said she couldn't see anything but the rest of the gang had no problem. Does being powerful increase eyesight?

I just finished the original Dragonball for the first time!

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 10:54 PM PDT

I've heard people hyping this show as one of the best for years now so I decided to start watching during the quarantine. At first I actually skipped the original series since I heard DBZ was way worse, but I think i realized like 30 episodes in that I had missed out on a lot. I think it was the moment Chiatzou died and I had a moment of 'o shit i really dont know anything about these characters or how the universe works'

Anyways i really liked it, it was a lot more interesting than I think some people online led me to believe. My favorite arcs were definitely the King Piccolo and Tien Tournament sagas, those 2 arcs were fantastic. Least favorite 100% goes to that damn tower arc, it honestly felt like filler to me, I had to push myself to finish that arc.

I've heard that characters like Yamcha and Tien get more sidelined in DBZ which is a shame since theyre probably my favorite characters other than Goku. It also sucks that Master Roshi seems to be completely sidelined now. I mean it makes sense he is like 300 years old, but i feel like we only really got glimpses of his true power in dragonball. Like that one time he like bended lighting just for no reason.

Also just a question, does dbz ever get sad? I mean there have been a lot of deaths so far but with the dragonballs none of the deaths really feel that sad. Do characters ever permanently die?
