Finally gave dragon ball a shot on my own accord

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:08 PM PDT

Hello everyone. Hope your all doing ok.

So a year or so ago I cake to this subreddit to talk about my first experience with dragon ball and how I was forced into it and bullied for not enjoying it. Well I can say now I watched it on my own accord and enjoyed it abit.

Now when I say abit let me explain. I enjoyed many parts of dragon ball but not everything. Imagen if you will taking individual grapes instead of fist fulls cause your picky as hell. That's me. I really enjoyed dragon ball, was ishy but still enjoyed Z, and not a huge fan of super, and enjoyed parts of gt. The show itself I dont think is for me. However all the fan works, the games and music is definitely for me. Love the jokes and animations you guys make. Top notch stuff right there.

For characters I really enjoy krillen, piccolo (in places) new broly (I must protect him) the androids and so on. Krillen is just such an awsome human in this story. Despite being joked as the weakest thing ever hes an amazing character and has amazing power and potential. Piccolo is also super cool in so many places. However I hate how he can get shafted at times. Hes a good teacher if not a hard ass in so many places. Broly is a pure boy and if frieza touches or even looks at him, I swear I will eat his liver in front of his eyes. The androids were such good characters. I really enjoyed this alot. Especially 16. Kinda sad he never came back in one form or another. Maybe as an a.i. who helps capsule Corp.

Now I did not enjoy some parts of the series as a whole and I hope that's ok I'm not 100% dragon ball. I definitely didn't enjoy goku. Hes become in a way to powerful to be enjoyed. (Atleast to be anyway). Hes shafted every other character and gained stupid levels of strength as well. I dont know. Maybe he just isn't for me. Vegeta gets cucked to many times. Seriously let him have a major victory. Let him be a kryptonite for a certain big bad villain maybe. Gohan could find a balance for his amazing power and life style and not become useless in comparison to everyone. Tien has been shamed and I hate that. He has such potential. I think yamcha can do great things and should be able to if directed properly. These are just some things I didnt enjoy.

Now the best part of dragon ball for me is the creativity and dedication the fans have. All these amazing art pieces, stories, games, music, fights and more. It's all just amazing. I'm surprised toriyama hasn't looked at a vast majority of it and told everyone they did amazing work. Cause guess what! You all deserve a pat on the back for your hard work. You even made characters who were hated have some good times and like light. That's amazing work. Good for all of you.

Now I can say I'm a super casual fan of dragon ball. I'll never own every piece and statue or whatever of the series..maybe a trinket or something small here and there. I dunno. However I can say now with no bullying on my back and no pain I enjoyed the story. I'm glad everyone is still enjoying this story of a monkey man from space.

Anyway that's all. Have a good night all.

My Fathers Opinions on the Saiyan Saga of Dragon Ball Z

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:22 PM PDT

I love Dragon Ball in general but I've never had someone to show it to and talk about it. Both of my parents have never seen anime in their lives. They have heard me talk about it, but they didn't really know about. I finally convinced my father to watch it and here are his thoughts.

His favorite character is Piccolo. He stated the reason why is that he thought he was the most complex character in the saga. He also liked that he was more serious unlike Goku. The most unexpected character he liked to me was Yajirobe. He thought that he was hysterical unlike the other side characters in his opinion.

He was also a big fan of the battles. He liked the animation and the choreography in them, especially the super attacks characters like Piccolo and Goku use. His main complaint was the side characters (Roshi, Bulma, Chi Chi, Oolong etc.) he thought that they were not funny and slowed down the action scenes which I can mostly agree with.

The reason I started with Z is that he is very Catholic and not very in tuned with Japanese culture. Dragon Ball in comparison is a lot more crude and about the side characters than the fighting. We are watching the original series and not Kai, but we have been skipping the filler. We are currently on the Frieza saga but If this post is well received I'll follow up with his opinions on the following sagas.

Anything you want to ask him? Or things I should tell him? Leave them below. Thanks for reading

The garlic jr filler arc right after namek is very good.

Might even be my favorite. Goku's gone, vegetas gone everyone is infected and it's up to piccolo, Gohan, and krillin to step up and save the world hell even kami throws down. It's everything I want more of in dragon ball, characters getting some love and not just one shot by the new threat.

    S.H. Figuarts or Dragon Stars

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:26 PM PDT

    First time posting here

I got into Dragon Ball in August and decided to watch the shows. I'm currently on Super Dragon Ball Heroes as I finished every other show. I've recently been wondering If they sell figures and the only one's I find in stores are the 9.99 Bandai figures and the Dragon Stars Android 18 figure

I went online and found out about Sh figuarts figures and I really do want to get alot of them like

Ginyu, Jeice, Burter, Reccome, Guldo, Goku, Piccolo, final form Frieza/Freeza, Vegeta, Kid Goku, Buu, etc (I know that most of the Ginyu Tokusentai isn't made yet)

Yet I don't know which one to buy as the Sh figuarts are very expensive and most of the dragon stars figures I find on the internet aren't too cheap either

And I have know idea If I should care more about the quality or the price of the figures as I've yet to buy any figures

So which one do you guys reccomend I buy

Something a lot of people didn't notice in dbs finale is when Goku arrives to help Frieza and 17 hold off jiren he used instant transmission to arrive since he couldn't physically stand up to help it shows the attention to detail in this episode.

    A theory about the Kaio-Ken

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:36 PM PDT

Theoretically couldn't Goku use the Kaioken to almost kill himself to increase his power, then heal after it because sayins powers increased after almost dying or taking damage?

And then do this almost infinitely to keep increasing his power and how long he can use it?

    The Cell Saga Training

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 10:17 PM PDT

After rewatching the Cell saga, I don't understand why Vegeta and Trunks didn't master the super saiyan forms the way Goku and Gohan did. At the end of their second period of training, they still don't appear to have done it even though Vegeta previously recognised that mastering the super saiyan form was a very effective way to train. What does everyone think?

    DragonBall Lore

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 08:38 PM PDT

Alright so I know a fair bit about dragonball but I don't know an excess amount per se. I was hoping that you all could help me in this pursuit perhaps, I'm looking for any siteable material in terms of dragonball involving Ki, Ki types/qualities(i.e. UI Gokus Ki is described as "Superheated" or otherwise "fiery" in nature) Super saiyan transformations and any other metamorphic forms, in addition to other general topics like chi and saiyan/other race biology be they involved with the wicked bloodline, demons or other entities canonical to the DB landscape. I'm talking just about anything, interview VODs with Toriyama/Toyotaro, books/prints, advertising material. All of it, if it has valued and solid information to it that is regarded as such consistently I'm happy to learn it. Thanks all for the help, hope to speak with you all in the future.

idk why I'm posting this, just wanted to

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 10:01 AM PDT

Does anyone else just love how Gogeta/Vegito/UI Goku move in battle? It's just so fluid and smooth, like when Gogeta was dodging all of Broly's ki blast, and he was spinning around while flying, that just looked to crazy. I know it's probably because of the animators but still, the animation whenever any of those 3 guys/forms are onscreen is amazing.
