ReWatched all of Dragon Ball series beginning to end, here is my perspective.

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 02:24 PM PST

Hello everyone! A big time DB fangirl here and I recently decided the watch the whole series from Dragon Ball to Super and Broly movie! It was pretty awesome way to see the series especially after watching parts of it alot over the years. Seeing it in one long stretch really brings the story together well. I will explain how I watched each series.

For Dragon Ball, I watched Dragon Ball recut which edits the filler and fluff out to reduce it to 80 episodes or so.

For Kai, I watched the same edit from same guy up to Buu Saga, he reduced a little there as well like taking out Ginyu taking over Bulma etc. Then watched normal Buu kai afterwards.

For Super, I watched the first 2 episodes skipping the Beerus stuff then jumped into Battle of Gods then watched 2 episodes after that arc in Super then watched Resurrection of F, then watched Super normally rest of the way skipping Fillery episodes like the Arale and baseball one.

I want to point this out because it could be why I enjoyed some arcs more then you may have since I tried to watched the most streamlined version possible.

I was also point out my top 5 characters which may explain my order which arcs are the best going from worst first.

    1. Future Trunks
    2. No. 17
    3. No. 18
    4. Vegeta
    5. Gohan

Now lets start with my least fav arc.

Fortuneteller Baba Saga (Watched 2 times total over the years, 1 time with sub and 1 time with dub) Besides the end with Grandpa Gohan this arc is incredibly boring. Like I also quit both time I watched this arc the show altogether. The fights are all boring and uninteresting. Only the end makes up for it. That fight is really cool with Goku fighting Grandpa Gohan. Otherwise, I legit dont like this arc.

Red Ribbon Army Saga (Watched total of 2 times, 1 time with dub and one time with sub) Now parts of this arc are amazing especially the last part with Tao and him raiding the Red Ribbon Army base. The tower was also kind of cool because it reminded me of Game of Death but overall most of the fights were just okay and the big blob monster was boring, but what really brings this Saga down is the Commander Blue part. I literally did quit both times I watched this series for a couple days to get through it. I just find it all incredibly boring. It brings the Saga down alot especially since it's a big portion of it.

Golden Frieza Saga (Watched 1 time in Super and 1 time for movie) This arc is just average and kind of just meh. Despite introducing super saiyan blue and golden Frieza... its just sorta mostly goes through the ropes. I mean I Actually enjoyed unlike most of the previous arcs but overall it just left with meh feeling.

Second half of Buu Saga (4 Total times watched. 2 times dubbed, original Z dub) Now I know I am putting this as two separate entries it sorta cheating up I love love love the first part of the Buu saga which I will go into later. This second half has some awesome moments but up until Buu gets in Kamis look out its straight boring. Outside SSJ3. I consider the second after Vegeta explodes btw. It picks up after the Buu getting on the tower but overall it's still just was not amazing but had some really awesome highs.

Universe 6 Saga (Watched 2 times) I love the last half of this Saga with Cabba and Hit. Those fights are really awesome. However, up till then the arc is really really boring and a bit hard to get through. The last half is amazing though and that's why it's a bit higher on this list then others.

Emperor Pilaf Saga (Watched 6 times. 5 times original funi dub 1 time sub) My brother had the VHS of this when I was in my teens and watched it many many times so maybe that why I place this higher then others. I just enjoyed its simpleness and funny nature of it all. Plus this is where it all begin. Its just good fun. It's easy to rewatch

God of Destruction Beerus Saga (3 times watched, 2 movie and 1 Super) I like alot about this saga. Beerus is a badass character and I love the look of Super Saiyan God. But overall, it just lack tension. I never felt for once Beerus would actually destroy them all. It's fun and I like it alot just much better sagas out there.

King Piccolo Saga (Watched 2 times 1 dub 1 sub) This the the first really big bad saga and it shows. The stake a raised here. You fill the dread from the onset and Daimo Piccolo is a great villain. Only bad parts really is its just over shadowed by all the big bad saga after. And a little bad pacing at spots. Overall, amazing saga. We are now getting the really good sagas from here on out I think it just becomes subjective and any of these could be considered best but this is how I place them.

Tournament Saga (Watched 3 times, 2 dub, 1 sub) This saga is the beginning of DB as we know it. It's the first time you get a beam battle. First time for a epic fight between Jackie Chun and Goku. Overall, the saga set the template for all future sagas to come especially all Tournament sagas. Overall just a blast to watch.

Tien Shinhan Saga (2 times watched, 1 sub 1 dub) The second tournament arc. It's the first one, but better! I especially love the Krilln vs Goku fight which needs alot more love. Not much to say. Its did everything better then the first one and actually has Tien being badass!

Frieza Saga (6 times watched, 4 times dubbed, 2 times sub) I know this might be controversial not having this at the very top. Like I said earlier all this sagas could be considered the best. For my personal taste, the aesthetic of Namek are bit negative for this saga. I just hate how that planet looks. Plus there is alot of pacing issues especially with the Frieza vs Goku fight. That aside I do love this saga I just like others much more.

Piccolo Jr. Saga (Watched 2 times 1 dub and 1 sub) This saga never used to be my fav but after this rewatch I realize alot of people be sleeping on this saga. The fights are all awesome. The stakes are there. There speculate is there. Goku vs Piccolo is one of the best fights in the series. I really enjoyed this Saga this second watch. Plus first time we get to see Adult Goku!

Saiyan Saga (Watched 12 times, 3 sub 9 dubbed) The reason for so many watches is because I would start alot of dbz marathons from here and die out usually sometime here or in the Frieza saga. I love this saga as well. The fight against Nappa is intense right out the gate plus you get to learn Goky is a saiyan and it introduces Vegeta and Gohan 2 of my fav characters. The fight between Goku and Vegeta is off the rails too. Another amazing saga.

Broly Saga (Watched 2 times, 1 dubbed in threate, and 1 sub) The most recent thing to come out. I always thought Broly was a cool villain so to bring him into canon and make him better, sign me up. Plus I love the back story part of the movie and the fight is of course one of the best in the series. Alot of great moments in this movie love Frieza killing Brolys dad and Gogeta! Loved this movie.

First Half of Buu Saga (Watched 16 times, 14 dub, 2 sub) This is hands down my favorite part of all db. I don't put it higher because technically is linked to the other part of the Saga which isn't as good. I love the Gohan in school stuff. The tournament, Majin Vegeta, the saiyans stomping all Babidi forces. I literally have watched this part more then other any of dragon ball and I prefer the dub only for this section of db. Some iconic lines here.

"Future" Trunks Saga (Watched 2 times) Well Future Trunks is my fav character so its obvious this would be high for me haha. Plus I love Goku Black and Zamastu as villains. Like many have pointed out this Saga is amazing till the very last episode. My second watch of it made me like it even more. This is when Super started to get good so they say.

Universe Survival Saga (3 times watched) Ya I love this saga Its basically 30 straight episodes of non stop fighting with all sorts of characters. I would put it number 1 but well my fav Saga holds a special place in my heart. But if you look at my top 5 fav char list and then you look at there showing in this Saga you can see why I like it so much. My only criticism is too much Goku fights but he is the main char what can you do

Cell Saga (Watched 10 times, 3 sub 7 dub. 1 of those sub was downloading from a website in 1999 with dial up and real media 3 mb size files. It looked like crap but I didn't wanna wait for the dub lol) I love love love love this Saga. Trunk is my fav char and he is introduced here in a badass way then so is 17 and 18 and Gohan gets the win. All my fav chars get badass moments. Plus Cell is my fav villain and is introducing is the scariest of any villain. This saga is flat out amazing.

Overall I really enjoyed this rewatch it made all the important moments hit more when you watch it back to back

    Hope you all enjoyed this!

Think Purple transformation will fit Vegeta well?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 09:28 PM PST

We don't have many colours left in the spectrum. The reason I want Vegeta to have purple is because having purple was a sign of royalty and wealth. Also purple was very rare, so as Vegeta, the last standing Saiyan royalty. That suits Vegeta especially the royalty part.

    Purple reflects him so well.

    Dragonball Remake

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 08:55 PM PST

So let's be honest many people do not know what the Dragonball story is and more and more people don't even know the story of DBZ but know of Goku as a character.

So what I want to discuss is how likely do you all think Toei and Funimation will invest in a Remake of Dragonball in a seasonal anime format.

The only problem I see with doing this is that some VA's probably can't return to their roles

Is there any evidence for the fact that Frieza treated the Saiyans like that?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 08:20 PM PST

I read a fanfic "Cold World" where Gohan is kidnapped by Raditz and made to work alongside the Saiyans and under Frieza. Frieza treats Gohan and the Saiyans like total shit. There was a scene where Gohan mouthed back to Frieza and he tortured him with death beams, whip slashes and locked him up in a place called the "doghouse" for 3 days. Vegeta says that he was given many such torture punishments by Frieza in his childhood. The Frieza force only let the Saiyans eat smelly rotten food, while Zarbon, Dodoria and the Ginyu Force ate amazing food. The Saiyans were tasked with menial chores like cleaning the base and even cleaning planets (that Ginyu's conquered) of corpses.

I haven't read it entirely but it's an awesome work. I love how it delves deep into the evil nature of Saiyans and how they seem like decent people compared to Frieza. I like the scene where Gohan was made to kill an innocent kid on one of their missions forcibly by Vegeta. That was probably the most disturbing and the most powerful scene in the story till where I read. I like how it brings out the darkness in Gohans life.... being surrounded by everyone that's evil, being made to commit crimes, having to deal with Raditz, Nappa and Vegeta's ruthlessness, and Frieza's abuse.
