Im gonna keep it short, haven't seen anyone mention this but, i think Frieza is gonna harness that angelic power in 73's body. Unlike moro i think Frieza can handle that angel power.

    Dragonball Super: Baby

    Posted: 22 Apr 2021 06:57 PM PDT

Would you accept a retelling of Babys story from Dragonball GT as a Dragonball Super movie? Now we are unsure if GT is canon yet to the main timeline but it feels like the events may take place in an alternate timeline. If that is the case GT would not be canon to the main timeline but still have a place in Dragonball lore. In way that's what the original movies were. They weren't part of the main continuity but were still important to Dragonball overall. Broly being one example of a movie villain that impacted fans enough to make a huge impact. He even impacted Toriyama enough to take Broly and make him canon to the series albeit with a different story arc.

Why not the same with another villain if considered possibly non canon? Create a new narrative for them and add them into current timeline if they are popular enough? Baby could very well be one of those choices. Now say if they decide "yes GT is a separate timeline. This timeline that Super is currently on doesn't tie into GT in any way"? Then to not include Baby in a Super movie would be a crime to me. His story in GT lends itself to creating a fantastic movie villain. It would be one of the darkest movies Dragonball have produced. Of course this would mean introducing Baby somehow early into the story but they would be able to work around that.

We have seen through Zamasu what it is like when a being controls a Saiyan God. Baby with the power of a Saiyan God would prove extremely dangerous. Then you have to ask what would be his actual downfall? Perhaps it's not even through Goku? What if Baby bites off more than he can chew? None of the Gods Of Destruction, angels, etc tend to get involved in these situations. It is up to the beings of the universe to resolve things with Beerus only stepping in if completely necessary. Baby could have things well in hand but his greed for power would ultimately cost him as he attempts to control and manipulate a God Of Destruction.

Beerus would quiet simply be too powerful to overcome. Baby would be unable to control a diety and end up being hakaied for his troubles. Or Dragonball could swerve us and have Baby somehow actually control Beerus forcing Whis of all people to step in. Theres many avenues that they could take with a Baby storyline in the current timeline. I feel like however the only way he would be defeated would be if he made a fatal error in his plans.

What do you think? Should Baby be introduced as a canon movie villain? Yes it would confirm the situation with GT but there's a lot there to work with. Do you have any Dragonball movie villains that you want to see become canon? And if GT ends up on a separate timeline which GT villain deserves the main timeline treatment? Baby? Super 17? Omega Shenron?

A Possible Plot Hole With Piccolo And Kami

    Posted: 22 Apr 2021 11:04 AM PDT

In the Dragonball manga chapter 358 (or Dragonball Z chapter 164, as printed in the English publication of the manga I own), at the beginning of the Cell saga, Kami is the first present timeline character to see Imperfect Cell in the flesh. Piccolo, ignorant to what's happening, questions what Kami is seeing. To clarify, this is one of my personal favorite moments in the saga as well as the franchise in general. It not only builds a powerful sense of dread in the wake of us already having been introduced to multiple antagonists whose strength far surpasses the untrained super saiyan via cyborgs #17 & 18.

It also plays on our imaginations of what such a being could look like by not revealing its appearance until AFTER Piccolo (fused with Kami) flies to the scene where Cell had his first major "feeding" in the present. This is helped by the suspense of Future Trunks, Gohan, and Bulma's subplot investigating the mystery of the second time machine (Offering glimpses of Cell's life cycle with the nymph molt) in addition to Krillin watching the TV news reports of unexplained mass disappearances at Kame/Turtle house. This is all masterful storytelling by Toriyama and a brilliant example of "Show, don't tell".

It achieves a near-perfect balance between necessary exposition vs. visual storytelling. Not since the interim between Vegeta's defeat and the buildup to Frieza (with King Kai warning Goku of what will happen if he confronts the Emperor of the universe) has a villain generated such palpable anticipation. All that said, I recently thought back to Piccolo and Kami's last interaction at the 23rd Tenkaiichi Budokai and remembered one small detail that kind of throws a monkey-wrench into Piccolo not being able to know what Kami saw when he witnessed Cell's activities from the lookout.

Now, as a lifelong fan, my first instinct was naturally to come up with some kind of defense or rationalization for how/why Piccolo couldn't just read Kami's mind to know what he saw instead of stubbornly demanding the information as if they'd both somehow conveniently forgotten this ability (Granted, forgetting powers and/or techniques at critical moments is nothing new for this series). Here's the thing though... I couldn't come up with anything that didn't involve mental gymnastics or just making up my own head-canon. A) Maybe Kami was consciously blocking his thoughts?

As in, he kept Piccolo from looking into his mind because he wanted to assess exactly what the threat was BEFORE sharing any information? B) Maybe the two can read each other's thoughts in terms of what can be put into words, but not see actual images in each other's heads? Either of those arguments could potentially make sense, except that NONE of that is established or implied in the source material. To the best of my recollection, it's never brought up in the anime either. Not to mention the fact that Piccolo could have looked down himself to scan wherever Kami was looking.

We've seen multiple times throughout the series that characters other than Kami can see at superhumanly far distances (Other Z Fighters do it a lot). Ex- In the Buu saga, Piccolo and Goku look down from the lookout to see Fat Buu, hoping he'd stop destroying after killing Babidi only to be disappointed when he keeps rampaging just for fun. On a side note, there are characters other than Kami (or Supreme Kai, for that matter) who can read minds and even voice their thoughts into others' heads. Ex- Goku can do BOTH, as demonstrated in the Saiyan & Namek arcs (Though when exactly he learned those abilities and from whom are never explained, I'd assume it was likely King Kai).

Any way you slice it, I can't for the life of me come up with an explanation for why Piccolo didn't just look into Kami's head. 🤷 Of course, this doesn't take anything away from my enjoyment of the buildup to Cell. Comment below what your thoughts are. Feedback is welcome!
