As a kid my favourite DBZ scene was Gohan going SS2 and defeating Cell. As an adult it's Vegeta admitting that Goku is the best.

I recently re-watched the series for the first time in a very long time. When you're young I suppose the significance of that moment in Vegeta's character development might be lost on you.

To look within himself, to move past his own self-hate and anger to make peace with the fact that Kakarot is better than him and that's okay.

It's seriously a brilliant inner monologue. Letting go of an obsession that eats away at you is something that would benefit many people in life. What a character arc.

Wanted to share a DBZ fan animation I recently released on YouTube, based on a what-if scenario where Vegeta went SSj on Namek first. Tell me what you think!

Vegeta is one of the best developed characters in Anime

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 12:19 PM PDT

When Vegeta was first introduced in Dragon Ball Z, he was a Saiyan prince full of pride, who wanted to use the dragon balls for immortality. After he got defeated by Goku and his friends, his whole motive was to pass Goku and be the best. Namek Saga occurred and that's where we learn that Frieza was the one who destroyed Planet Vegeta and Vegeta wanted to kill Frieza for destroying his home. Once realizing that he can't beat Frieza, Vegeta relied on Goku to defeating Frieza putting away his pride and believed that Goku is the legendary Super Saiyan that will end Frieza.

After the Namek Saga, Vegeta settled in Earth and began a relationship with Bulma and had a baby (Trunks) with her. During the Android/Cell Saga, Vegeta still had his pride as a Saiyan and ego causing him to be selfish but neutral. During the Buu Saga, Vegeta still didn't change until Majin Buu was born and he ultimately sacrificed himself for the sake of his family and even Goku. When that happened, Vegeta went from a selfish, egotistical, and evil person to a person who's willing to sacrifice his life and pride for his family and his greatest rival.

During dragon ball super, Vegeta's character went through greater development as being a family man and reaching new levels of strength on his own. Goku became a Super Saiyan with the help of others while Vegeta achieved that level on his own. His drive to getting stronger has been his ambition to surpass Goku and protecting his family. In the manga (spoilers ahead), during the Moro arc, he protects the Namekians in New Namek and it's his way of atoning for his actions during the Namek Saga when he was searching the dragon balls and killed countless Namekians for it. Recently in the Granolah arc, he unveiled his new transformation, proving that he wants to be the best in his own way and strength.

In conclusion, I would definitely say Vegeta is one of the best developed characters in Anime.

How did Dragon Ball franchise and community stayed alive?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 09:22 PM PDT

So it got me thinking and I'm genuinely asking to everyone, how did Dragon Ball franchise and the community actually stayed alive. What did the Dragon ball fans do all this years before the release of Super. Because the last Dragon Ball series GT ended in November 19, 1997. And no new material was released before Super. Only new thing the franchise got, was a live action movie called Dragon Ball Evolution in 2009. Which was a horror show and could have ended the franchise. So how did the Dragon Ball franchise survive all this.

What did the fans do to make the Dragon Ball community and franchise stay alive? I'm curious.

I enjoyed the Garlic Jr. saga

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 11:41 AM PDT

Don't get me wrong, its the worst DBZ saga by far but all things considered it was decent. Some GREAT interactions between characters, the additional Guardian of Earth lore was welcomed as i thought it was fun, Maron was a great comic relief character and i thought most of Garlic Jr.'s lore is good. Granted i wish that his goons looked like...Makyans like the original 3 but i won't lose any sleep over the spice boys.

What do you think of DB as of today? Just Toriyama's original manga.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 01:11 PM PDT

Opinions on Dragon Ball feel like just extremes on the internet. It's an excellent masterpiece to this day or a poor written story that just survives on nostalgia. As most of you, I suppose, my first contact was by the anime when I was a child but since then I've watched and read it again and again. I'm now 25 years old and it's easy to see a lot of major problems or lack of deepening in some areas but honestly? I believe Dragon Ball holds up fairly well with today's standarts. Toriyama made such a beautiful work with it's story, characters, world, and yeah there are flaws (particularly in Z) but I think the good overcomes the bad. If I had to rate DB rationally it would be a 8 but in my heart it's always a 10 S2.

Do planets with more "magical proprieties" get guardians?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 11:58 AM PDT

Earth has direct doorways to the demon realm (a place not even the Supreme Kais and Destroyers can see), many magical items and magic users and is the planet sent that Bibidi sent the sealed Buu to. Planet Konats of Wrath of the Dragon was also deeply magically gifted. Both of these planets are the only ones we know of to have Guardians.

From all of the canon information and non-canon information such as filler, movies and video-games we can assert with a good amount of confidence that Earth is deeply magical and Konats, the movie only planet, is also extremely magical and these are the only 2 planets that we know for sure had Guardians.

So we can assume that planets that are important due to their magical proprieties

    Fused Zamasu's immortality

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 08:24 PM PDT

Which do you prefer, Fused Zamasu being semi immortal and having a half corrupted form, or Fused Zamasu being fully immortal, but having a time limit?
