    Yamcha was Goku's first rival. He was left behind and couldn't catchup to Goku in power after that one arc. Same with Tien. Big Goku rival in the beginning. But then he was left behind and could no longer catchup to Goku. Same with Piccolo. Same with Frieza (until Toriyama brought him back in dbs). Same with Cell, Buu, Hit. Like all these guys rivaled Goku in power at one point. But eventually, Goku moved way far ahead of them. Do you think the same could happen to Jiren?

    Which Version Of Cell Saga Gohan's Purple Gi Do You Prefer? Blue Belt Or Red Belt?

    I hadn't thought about this until recently, but am curious about your opinions. Growing up, I've seen instances where characters were colored differently in specific mediums. Whether it's the manga, anime, movies, games, advertisements, etc, there are times when an iconic design conflicts with another which can naturally lead to questions of "Which is the original?" or "Which is canonical?"

    Now, before someone comments Family Guy's classic "Oh my god, who the hell cares?" meme, let's just pretend for one minute that maybe some fans do care enough to, at the very least, have a civil discussion about it. Cool? Okay then. Now, it's not news at this point to say that Gohan's color scheme has had more than one inconsistency. As far as I can tell, this began with his Cell saga incarnation.

    In the original colorized versions of the manga, he is depicted with a red belt on the gi gifted by his first teacher Piccolo. In the anime and certain marketing material, however, the belt is blue (same as the wristbands). Interestingly, this has also happened more than once with Piccolo which leads me to believe that the pattern may have actually started with him. Hence, the assigned artists at the time may have been confused about which color to fill in for Gohan's belt in order to mirror Piccolo's.

    Now, on one hand, the red is more consistent with his Saiyan, Namek, and early Androids saga outfit. It fits into the color scheme fans became accustomed to seeing him wear. But, on the other hand, I'm personally biased towards blue. Apart from being my favorite color, it was also the first version of the belt that I saw on Cell saga Gohan. As someone with a love for color matching, I personally don't like how the red stands out from the blue wristbands while complementing the purple gi. That's just me.

    There's also the factor of Piccolo's namekian color scheme to consider. In all depictions (again, as far as I've been able to find), the alien markings of his arms generally end in the red horizontal tube-like lines at his wrists. The red belt fits in better to match that. The question becomes, which is preferrable for Gohan? The color scheme that most closely matches Piccolo's, or the one that best fits him as an individual? My vote is ultimately for the blue. My reasoning isn't really logical, I just like it more.
