Why haven't all of the saiyans gained God Ki yet?

If all it takes is a 30-second long ritual that involves 5 saiyans holding hands, why isn't every saiyan a god yet?

A way I've found to enjoy GT's dub...

    Posted: 05 May 2020 09:59 AM PDT

This may seem like an impossible idea (I'm sure Kaboom will shake his head at this) but hear me out, GT's dub isn't all bad IMO, at least when watched with the Japanese OST from the DVD season sets and when adapted by certain writers. On a rewatch through the anime, I paid attention to every episode and the end-credits that showed who wrote them, finding something pretty interesting about who penned the least faithful and definitely more cringeworthy adaptations.

The stories I found least faithful and cringeworthy, those written by Christopher Neel, a writer whose time with FUNimation goes all the way back at least to DBZ's original Ocean dub. Amongst these adaptations he penned include honestly some horrible renditions to some of GT's best episodes IMO, including the Imecka mini-arc dealing with Ledgic, the conclusion to Goku's battle with Baby-Vegeta (sadly the demise ep for Piccolo with Earth as well), Vegeta's nostalgic flashback episode, the iconic Gogeta ep, and the worst sin of all... Neel's butchering of episode 64 the series finale.

I'll give Neel a single bone that not absolutely everything he did was unsalvageable trash, I actually really like his writing of the Goku Jr. special (I even like Menza's score as an alternate for it as well...), but I swear to God that's the only positive thing I can say for him regarding GT. Episode 64 alone was butchered so far beyond reason, on top of what Neel pulled in just about every prior episode he adapted for this series, I seriously suggest never touching those and watching only the Japanese version.

But back to the point of my subject, I don't find everything in this anime dub bad, there's actually a pretty talented trio of writers separate from Neel's surreal antics, these were Eric Vale, Andrew Rye, and Brian Thomas. With them were a few rare supporting writers less often seen, names like Charles Davis, Matt Chaney, plus Neil Bligh and in my mind these guys should've handled the entire dub run.

If you'd like to try the best the GT dub can offer, I highly recommend using the dub with Japanese OST from the DVD season sets and replacing the Neel-written dub episodes with the original strict Japanese version. Again I will give Neel a single positive suggestion with the Goku Jr. special "A Hero's Legacy" but really, that's all I promise, as for the overall 64 episodes here is the order and who all adapted them...

    Incorrect Dragon Ball critique

    Posted: 05 May 2020 09:42 AM PDT

As we all probably know, Dragon Ball is not perfect and has its fair share of defects. But since it's such a famous piece of media, I find most of its critics haven't really watched the series, or only watched it as a kid, and end up making plainly wrong criticism.

    My favorites:

1- "Dragon Ball's villains suck! They have no development!"

Just two words: Vegeta and Piccolo.

2- "It's so predictable, Goku always wins the final battle with a new transformation!"

A common myth... In fact, that only happens once to Goku, twice if we count Gohan.

3- "The Cell Saga is full of plotholes! Why didn't Trunks just destroy the Androids in the past?!?!"

Really, any time people want to complain about DB's time travel only to prove they don't understand even its most basic features...

And you, what other things have you ever heard that try to put down Dragon Ball but don't really make sense? Attention, please no subjective thoughts, just objectively incorrect ones...

Why do villains keep their bodies?

    Posted: 05 May 2020 08:37 AM PDT

I thought only those who commit noble acts or something along those lines get to keep their bodies. It makes sense that Frieza did because then there would be a few plot holes in super, but it confused me why cell, babidi and others still have their bodies. Can anybody explain this? Sorry for the long post.
