The Android Saga might be the best in all of Dragon Ball.

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 03:22 PM PDT

Recently I've been re-reading all of Dragon Ball Z, in between new chapters of Super, and I recently made my way through the Android Saga.

Growing up watching Dragon Ball, I've always believed the best arc to be the Freeza arc. Going back through it as an adult however, I realized how much more substance and variety there is in the Android Saga.

It starts by introducing Trunks, one of the most loved characters in the series, displaying the overwhelming power of the Super Saiyan, and the most interesting plot to date with mystery, new character relationships, villains feared by this powerful warrior from the future, and something even more fearful then that, a deadly virus destined to kill our main character regardless of how strong he becomes.

As the arc progresses you get to see many of the characters who have been "off screen" for most of the series. You get to see the world of Dragon Ball Z with cities, rural areas, and mountain roads. You see the actual inhabitants of the world impacted and reacting to this new threat.

The Androids themselves are a great concept for new antagonists. Supernaturally durable with an unlimited supply of energy, something never before seen by the heros of the series. Possessing a near opposite personality to the prior villians in the series, believing themselves to be all powerful already, not wanting further power or control. Simply motivated by boredom and the bond between them.

ANYWAY, I was a little surprised and excited to find this new perspective on a series I've been following for nearly my entire life. Feel free to share your thoughts on the Saga and let me know which one is your favorite. I'd be genuinely interested to read. 🟠

My thoughts on the the Moro arc so far (chapter 63)

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 02:09 PM PDT

As another chapter of the Manga has come out people's opinion of Moro and the arc have changed drastically so I want to know your opinion of the arc and if it's changed recently or not

Personally I love the arc to bits and despite it's flaws (mainly the release the prisoners wish) I think it's my favourite arc in Super. Moro captures my interest right from the start and continues to surprise me, his powers used to be unique to dragon ball and his design was captivating and cool as hell. I love the situations he puts Goku and Vegeta in and their fights on namek are some of my favourite, although he ha a fallen off in creativity lately.

The "reintroduction" of the Z-warriors and Buu was a nice change of pace, it was nice to see Buu fight again after his repeated shafts in Super previously and the fight on earth really gave a OG Namek vibe of the gang holding out till Goku shows up.

The training and power up Goku and Vegeta got felt earned and show the charters mainly Vegeta in new light and situations (training in Yardrat and coming to turn with his actions in Namek) seeing UI again felt a little too soon but it didn't stay long or become a "win button" so I think it was handled well and Vegeta's new power up is very unique to dragon ball and has massive use for after this arc.

Not sure how I feel yet about Meerus and the (likely) return of MUI because it feels like a copy of Gohan and 16 but hopefully there's a final twist to keep this arc as good as it's beginning.

Long story short, Moro is the goat.

Anyone else find it weird how people and some of the games will call Goku from Dragon Ball “Kid Goku” but then call Gohan from the Cell Saga “Teen Gohan” despite Goku from Dragon Ball being older than Gohan was

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 01:59 PM PDT

Goku is 12 at the start of Dragon Ball and Gohan is anywhere from 9-11 when he fights Cell.

So if goku or vegeta become actual deities in the manga, would that mean their SSB would turn to SSRosé?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 02:22 PM PDT

I remember we got some explanation in the manga, but I also remember seeing something in xenoverse 2 which said that if goku were to be earths protector, like dende (who is a god?), he would also have rosé

Moro Arc: Started Great, continued even better, looking to not end great

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 02:55 PM PDT

SPOILERS FOR ALL WHO HAVENT READ THE MANGA

I know we still have a few issues to go before the arc ends, so this is all speculative of course. But I'm really hoping this doesn't end how we think it will.

There have been so many good introductions into the Moro arc. The use of magic instead of just "I am more powerful".

Hit was such a perfect opportunity to begin that trend. Okay, these guys are powerful enough. Now they need to use their heads more instead of relying on brute force. But then kaioken came in and said fuck all that. (I know, kaioken enhances the users speed and senses, so maybe that's not so bad. It was handled worse in the anime)

Point being, during this arc, we were introduced to a new enemy that uses magic, who isn't just ridiculously strong, which is super exciting. He got stronger only by consuming more planets and other things. Cool, better explanation than jiren. It now is about technique instead of new forms and MORE power. In the earth vs. bad guys fight in this latest arc, we saw some really cool ideas like piccolo and gohan using joint moves to outsmart 73, who gave a hard time to one of them individually due to his replicating ability. They hyped up vegeta for focusing his spirit, using Forced Spirit Fission and all. I am praying that this doesn't become like a Zamasu situation, where they introduce a PERFECT solution using technique to an "unbeatable enemy" (mafūba), and then totally toss it to the wayside.

We all are thinking that now goku will turn MUI after Merus' death and slap the shit out of Moro. I'm hoping we're wrong, and goku just goes apeshit in SSB or something. I feel like toriyama keeps edging into this new "smarter" solution to fights but then draws back on it for just a power up. I love goku but I'm tired of the predictable outcome as always. Throw vegeta in there man. (I'm a gohan fanboy, but it's time vegeta wins because he has the ultimate solution to Moros situation)

Also, I know UI and MUI are techniques, but they're more than that. There's a pretty substantial power boost and they're treated much more like a new form. I feel like something as OP as MUI SERIOUSLY needs to be regulated, especially for mortals.

Dragonball episodes 116-117, Ultra Divine Water

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 06:05 PM PDT

Im baked and watching dragonball so humor me. It's proven to be something else entirely already, but I've always liked the thought that maybe it didn't increase your power but made you aware of power levels within yourself as wells as others.

This in turn allows you to tap into that well of power and you are now aware of your limitations and are able to reach your full current potential and allows you to see how more potential you can obtain.

Korin asked Goku how he felt after leaving the ice world. Goku tells him it's like he can feel power levels.

This is how they can train to become even stronger, with different races having a bigger well of power and potential to increase that exponentially.

This is how humans technically peek, because they have that limit of power, Sayans keep breaking through their limitations because they see what else is on the other side of the well, and the freeza clan just has a huge power well to begin with so they don't even bother training until freeza figured out and became Golden.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I want to start reading the manga

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 04:54 PM PDT

I've never read DB manga, but I understand its a little different from the anime. If the last thing I watched was the Tournament Of Power in DBS, which chapter of the manga should I start on? Also, is the current manga series still called Dragon Ball Super or is it different? Is it still going on or is it at a stopping point?

    Is Kid Buu actually evil?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 06:20 PM PDT

In my opinion, we are presented with two perspectives on Kid Buu which are incompatible. He is at times described as pure evil while at other times he is described as an insane, almost mindless, killing machine. But if he's an insane, mindless, killing machine then he can't possibly be pure evil because if he were insane then he would lack the ability to differentiate good from evil. On the other hand, if he truly is pure evil and understands what he's doing is wrong but takes pleasure in it then he must be more than just a mindless killing machine and actually be more sapient than we're led to believe by some of the characters.

Personally, I think Kid Buu is more intelligent than he leads on. Yes, his default is simply to rush forward without thought, but at the same time he also seems to have moments where he considers his actions and comes up with tactics. He also seems to relish his power in a way that suggests he does know what he's doing is cruel and enjoys it anyways.

But what do you think? Is Kid Buu a mindless killing machine or is an extremely evil sapient being?
