The things people say about Dragon Ball [Z and Super included] that I hate...

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 06:34 PM PDT

There are multiple different things that we can all agree on when it comes to stuff that is wrong with Dragon Ball like all of the plot holes and retcons. Goku's entire backstory and more got completely messed up due to DBS: Broly changing some things. People are entitled to their own opinions, but there are things about DB that people say that just really get on my nerves sometimes.

1.) Goku's a bad father (debatable): In my honest opinion, Goku isn't really a bad father. Before Raditz showed up we clearly saw how Goku, Chichi and Gohan had a peaceful life. It was stated after Goku introduced Gohan to Krillin that Chichi didn't allow Goku to train Gohan, which is reasonable tbh. But I've never seen anyone point out the fact that Goku has trained his entire life and that he's new to being a father. Since he's been practicing Martial Arts since he was a child, he probably thought that was the best way to bond with Gohan since he didn't grow up in a castle like Chichi or a big city like Bulma, so he can't really think of anything else to do with Gohan.

Some people, who've obviously never paid attention to the series, always say that Goku's a terrible father because he chose to stay dead and was never there for Goten. Goku decided to stay dead to prevent any other threats from attacking them since he knew he was the center piece to everytime everyone was in danger. If Goku didn't encourage Gohan to tap into his full power during the Kamehameha battle with Cell, everyone including Gohan would've died. If Goku was such a terrible father he wouldn't have teamed up with an enemy, who shot a hole through his shoulder by the way, just to go save his son from his brother.

2.) Gohan is a crybaby The only times I can remember Gohan being a crybaby is when he was a 4 year old child who was kidnapped by his father's worst enemy at the time and left to fend for himself in the wilderness for 6 months. How can somebody not cry from all of this happening within a single day. I'm surprised Gohan doesn't have PTSD. Other than this small part of the story Gohan has had a ton of courage. Yeah he has moments where he freezes up out of shock or gets scared, but some of Gohan's best moments come from when he ignores all of those emotions and just snaps, like he did against Frieza in his second form.

Cell Saga Gohan isn't a crybaby, he's just sensitive. We already know Gohan doesn't like fighting and his story throughout this arc revolves around that. Even Piccolo states it to Goku who ends up being surprised by this fact. Gohan just wants to study, live a normal life and become a scholar one day. Because of DBZ: Kakarot we got a little more backstory behind Gohan and his friendship with Android 16. Gohan learns how 16 is just a peaceful person who loves nature and wants to protect it at all costs. After watching the Android be completely destroyed in front of his eyes, Gohan snaps and dominates Cell.

3.) Terrible story and character development Do people not realize how much the characters have not only helped progress the story, but helped progress character development? If it wasn't for Gohan, Piccolo probably wouldn't feel sympathy. If it wasn't for Piccolo, Gohan probably wouldn't have toughened up as fast. If it wasn't for Eighter, Goku wouldn't know about mercy. If it wasn't for Goku convincing Krillin to show Vegeta mercy in the Saiyan saga, Trunks wouldn't exist. If Trunks didn't exist everything would've played out exactly the same in the original timeline, except after Gohan dies that's it.

Toriyama is an amazing writer, the only thing that ruins it all is the constant retcons, plot holes and sometimes inconsistencies. Like I stated earlier, the broly movie ruined a lot of stuff throughout Goku's backstory, but that's a completely different discussion. If you read all of this let me know how you felt about my opinions on some of these topics and maybe give your own personal opinion.

Theory about how Goku Jr and Vegeta Jr are able to become Super Saiyans.

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 06:18 PM PDT

This is most definitely an old topic, but I just finished rewatching GT. In fact, before writing this I had actually read a post about the same subject here that's over 5 years old. In short it suggested that Saiyan genes function more like chromosomes. I suggest reading it, it's a rather interesting thought.

But I had another theory: We all know that one of the most important Saiyan traits is their ability to become stronger after a near fatal injury, also known as Zenkai. Well what if Saiyan genetics work in a similar manner? My thought process is that the Saiyan genes in Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. somehow 'sensed' how diluted they were becoming by human genes over many generations. The Saiyan genes then 'zenkai boosted' themselves and overwrote the human genes, at least enough to give Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. the ability to become Super Saiyans (which according to Toriyama, would have to be at least half).

As for them not being born with tails, they could've been born with a majority of human genes, and this process of their DNA being rewritten could've happened over time as they grew OR this process could've given birth to a new, more evolved breed of Saiyan (similar to the Saiyans from Universe 6). Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. being evolved Saiyans could also explain why their standard Super Saiyan forms have the bio-electric aura associated with forms 2 and above.

But this is all just head canon... I'm curious to know what you guys think! Feel free to add on or tell me about your own theory's below.

My own theory for DBS(tell me your opinions on it)

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 07:47 PM PDT

During the tournament of power when Goku unlocks his ultra instinct against jiren for the last time. Goku starts getting flashbacks of these memories of his time as a god then all of a sudden Goku's memory returns and he remembers that many many years ago he was a powerful God the God of battle and there are many other gods just like him such as a God of love, the god of battle which was Goku( who as a god was named Son Goku, the monkey God of battle), the God of the seas, the god of lightning, etc. Goku one day decided that he was in need of a good fight so he challenged all of the other gods (excluding lord beerus and the supreme kais) to a battle. Goku, having not held back his power had killed every single one of the gods with out meaning too. Goku, though feeling guilty of killing his companions, still was not battle satisfied so with no one else to turn to goku challenged Beerus to a fight which he ended up winning. After the realization that no one can give them a proper challenge Goku decided that there was only one thing left that he could do, he must gather the super dragon balls. He summoned the dragon and made a wish that his existence would be forgotten even to the gods and he would be reborn into a mortal of at least warrior class race (which is why he became a saiyan) and he will have many great adventures and battles against strong warriors become more and more strong until he finally becomes strong enough to where returns to his god power(his base form is ultra instinct as he's the one who created it but do to they gods losing their memories of him they just knew it as a legend).

    What are Ultra Instinct's weaknesses/limitations?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 08:50 AM PDT

I know this sounds like a stupid question with an obvious answer, but I just want to know if UI (or even MUI) has any definite weaknesses. I'm fairly sure there has to be at least one, but I don't know what it is or what it would be. Maybe it's something I missed...
