Thanks to the help of user Duy Goby on the Dragon Ball wiki, I was able to confirm a piece of trivia he put on the Heart Virus page: it was changed to food poisoning in an early Vietnamese release of the manga. Here's a (google translated) article for proof. Other changes he shared include Future Gohan dying of tetanus, Android 17 and 18 being named Pic and Poc, and Android 16 being named King Kong. Pretty hilarious stuff that I couldn't find any mention of on the English internet.

Full disclaimer: I'm very new to DBZ. I've watched Dragon Ball, DBZ Kai and Super (all dubbed) but as of yet I have not seen the original DBZ series. After looking at several different posts and discussions on this sub, I'm still confused as to one thing.

Did any English dub of DBZ open with the iconic Cha-La Head Cha-La theme? More specifically, one like this? If so, which one?

Wait a minute... How did Super Perfect Cell gain Instant Transmission?

So, when Cell self-destructed and killed Goku, he was not only able to regain his Perfect Form (which in itself doesn't make sense) and a zenkai boost that gives him a Super Saiyan 2 aura, but he also gains Goku's Instant Transmission. How is that possible? Goku didn't know it when Gero gathered his DNA in Cell's timeline, and Goku was blown to smithereens! Even if Cell has the ability to gain an opponents abilities by absorbing their cells (which is never established), there was nothing left of Goku to take from. Am I missing something, or is this just an error in writing? If it's the writing, why not just say that Cell is now so fast that he can travel from Other World to Earth in nothing flat?

Well, the ones that have warranted their own sagas. I've been watching Super again and I think I prefer Black over Frieza now. Black/Zamasu's motivation as a religious zealot is such a unique twist on the classic DB villain and gives a lot more attention to an alternate universe, which is always cool.

I've heard people saying that dbz is really cliche af, two-dimensional characters, deus ez machinas, unexplained asspulls, simplistic af, etc.

I would like to strongly disagree to these with actual facts. But I really want to hear other people's responses.
