A Cooler sketch I inked and colored. The movies may not make sense in the timeline, but I always enjoyed the designs and characters.

Gotenks is such a missed and wasted character nowadays

    Posted: 02 May 2020 03:08 PM PDT

What was once a badass fusion composed of two rowdy saiyan children that were able to fight Majin Buu with super saiyan 3 is now reduced to a forgotten character, especially in Super. The only thing he really does is "fight" Beerus and provide a few jokes here and there but nothing in terms of character.

Think about it, imagine if Gotenks got to fight Jiren, Goku Black or anyone really. I feel like he's being under-utilized in everything

To what Extend Does Hype Contribute to DBZ's success?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 03:20 PM PDT

Might be a dumb question, but from how I see it, DBZ benefited from it's superb cliffhangers and build up. Is Hype irrelevant or integral to DBZ?

    Confusion regarding the timeline...

    Posted: 02 May 2020 04:49 PM PDT

As far as I know, both Vegeta and Broly were born in Age 732. Also, Broly didn't get to stay in the incubator for long as King Vegeta immediately(so in the same year that he was born) sent him off to Vampa. We see in the movie that Bardock and all the other saiyans were brought back to Planet Vegeta five years after King Cold handed over the saiyans to Freeza(that's also Age 732). So, Bardock landed on Planet Vegeta at Age 737 when Gine says (in the Dragon Ball Minus chapter of the Jaco manga) that Goku's been in there for three years till that point. Now, everyone seems to believe that Goku was born in 737 and Planet Vegeta was destroyed in 739 or 740. That's clearly wrong. According to what we see in the movie and manga, Goku should have been born in Age 734 with Planet Vegeta destroyed in 737.

I also want to know, where have the Ages been stated? Are they in the manga? Cause I haven't read that. All I've seen is that there is general agreement within the community that Broly and Vegeta were born in 732 and Goku in 737. Also, in the beginning of the movie, it says 41 years ago. 732+41 would give 773 which is one year before Buu was defeated. I don't see why the events in the movie would be dated with reference to that point in time....

    Best Cliffhanger?

This question is a little bit confusing, but what episode/chapter left you hyped for the next episode/chapter? Also leave a small description why, if you can

Would the evil containment wave work on Jiren?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 05:57 PM PDT

I know that the move doesn't literally contain evil, but even Vegeta couldn't fight its pull so I'm curious if there's any entity strong enough to break free before being jarred. Maybe the gods of destruction, the angels, the grand priest, and Zeno could resist it, but I don't know for sure.

And this is also in the ideal scenario that he's never seen the move before, or at the very least has no way to dodge it.

Help me understand Cell's absorbing powers

    Posted: 02 May 2020 11:09 AM PDT

So from what I've heard, Cell was specifically designed to absorb 17 and 18 in order to reach his semi-perfect and then perfect form. But he could also get stronger by just killing and absorbing anybody. Even if these people were just regular humans who didn't even fight and probably had a power level equivalent to farmer with a shotgun.

So why did Cell bother searching for 17 and 18 to absorb? I get that it's much faster, but as it is, absorbing weak humans clearly made him EXTREMELY powerful and would be effortless for him. Was there a limit to how strong he could get absorbing people this way that I'm not remembering?

Basically, why did Cell not just continue to absorb people? Could he theoretically have become infinitely powerful this way? In which case, his desire to hunt 17 and 18 and absorb them makes no sense if he could attain that power anyway, regardless of if it takes longer

    Anime adapting the manga

Honestly I think that if there is a sequel the studio should adapt the DBS manga. Honestly think would be the best thing they could do.

Does anyone else feel like fusion was underutilized during the Majin Buu Saga?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 12:49 PM PDT

I feel like it was a great opportunity for less important characters to get some spotlight. For example, Goten and Trunks were both basically newborns and it would be unrealistic for them to catch up with the rest of the cast so quickly, but Gotenks gave them both an opportunity to be powerful and relevant. Even then, though, Gotenks got his ass kicked pretty quickly and the focus ended up shifting back to Goku. To me it seems like with a lot of things in the Majin Buu saga Toriyama initially wanted to give spotlight/development to less important characters, but just shifted the spotlight back to Goku again after receiving some critical reception.

What do you think of the idea of, say, Tien and Yamcha fusing? Or even something more unorthodox, like Krillin and Roshi. It would be interesting to see how their personalities combine, and it would give them a reasonable chance to be as powerful as the rest of the cast. I think it'd be cooler than just "Goku goes MORE super saiyan for the third time"
