Rewatched Cell vs Vegeta and forgot how much

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 07:38 AM PDT

I was rewatching DBZ and I forgot how much the characters used to talk shit to each other and the insults are top tier. Vegeta and Cell's shit talk to each other was by far the best

Do you think we’ll ever get a Dragon Ball (kid Goku) game?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 02:24 PM PDT

They should make an open-world adventure game for Dragon Ball (up until Goku's marriage). And because this is before the franchise went all 'blasts and endless hits', they can really focus on a complex and detailed combat system, rather than 'press trigger and choose combo'. I remember there was a Wii game and it was honestly pretty fun, I think they can do a lot better now. And I would love to finally play a game during the tournament arc after Goku grows up and eventually fights Piccolo for the first time, it would be awesome

Something That Doesn't Make Sense To Me About Babidi's Magic

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 06:23 PM PDT

When Videl fought Spopovich at the Tenkaichi Budokai in Chapter 441, just after she saved herself from falling out of bounds by levitating, Goku said to Gohan "It might have been better if she had fallen. Something weird about this Spopovich... He's way too unfazed for the damage he's taken. And I don't feel any chi from him at all." (This line is altered in different translations, but the point of the dialogue is the same) Now, it's been established since the start of DBZ, if not earlier, that all lifeforms possess energy.

No matter how weak or small the lifeform, even if it's a power level of only 1, that energy is still detectable to characters attuned at sensing chi or ki. Even without scouters, those experienced at this can get some feeling for where a lifeform is and how strong it is (unless the lifeform in question is skilled enough to hide or "mask" its energy). As of Super, canon dictates that only androids (not bio-mechanical like Cell), cyborgs, and deities possessing God ki are incapable of being sensed by mortals.

Taking all this into account, it seems that Babidi's magic would have something to do with why Spopovich doesn't give off any ki. Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense why Goku couldn't sense him. So, for sake of argument, let's just assume that those under Babidi's Majin mark have their current latent potential drawn out in exchange for their life force being corrupted by some kind of dark magic that renders their ki undetectable. But, if that's the case, then shouldn't the same logic apply to all subjects under Babidi's Majin mark? If Yamu, Pui Pui, and Yakon follow the same rule, then what about Dabura?

Is he subject to the same rules? If so, how could Goku tell he was comparable to Cell in power just from watching him fight Gohan (especially when it's suggested that Dabura was holding back the whole time, dragging out the fight while only trying to damage Gohan for energy to give Buu)? If Gohan was weaker than seven years ago, and Goku couldn't challenge Perfect Cell even at 100% as a Mastered super saiyan, then how does Dabura's battle with Gohan equate to him rivaling Cell?

Majin Vegeta is more understandable, as Goku actually fought him so he'd know firsthand that he's stronger than young Gohan's SS 2 was. They physically traded blows, proving to be "dead even" (except for the as yet unrevealed SS 3), and Goku could tell he wasn't holding back. Likewise, Piccolo, Goten and Trunks watched Vegeta against Fat Buu whose own energy could be sensed. And Buu's power at that point was high enough for SS 2 Goku to show concern (implying he was stronger than Perfect or Super Perfect Cell), saying he and Vegeta could only beat him if they worked together.

From this, Piccolo deduced that Vegeta had "broken through the super saiyan wall" and was "more powerful than Gohan when he fought Cell". Based on these examples, I can understand how Vegeta and Buu's strengths were gauged but Dabura was never shown fighting all-out except against Fat Buu who easily overpowered him. Because this didn't happen until after Goku and Vegeta began their fight, however, it's still unclear exactly how Goku estimated strong Dabura was. How do we reconcile this?

Could some Majin characters be sensed, while others couldn't? Did Toriyama forget about Goku's comment on being unable to sense Spopovich's ki? I know it sounds like I'm overthinking this, and I probably am, but it's just a nitpick I thought about recently that I haven't been able to figure out. Comment below, what do you think? Am I missing something, or do you have a different theory?

Why didn't Vegeta stop Goku black originally?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 09:13 PM PDT

    Spoliers below

If i understood this right which could be totally incorrect. There's 3 timeliness at work here the one for future Trunks, the main story timeline, and goku blacks timeliness.

In goku blacks timeline goku had met zamastu with beerus and goku beat up zamastu. Meaning this timeline vegeta and goku had ssb level of powers. Goku black was created when Zamastu took over gokus body. He then proceeded to kill gokus family. Why couldn't vegeta stop him here. Black was not at rose level until after fighting with mainstory lines goku.

Still baffling to me, that the Level Sets were first released 10 years ago and than just scrapped after the Sajyan arc. If they did it again, maybe in 4K this time and pulled all the way through, Dragon Ball Z wouldn't need a new release for another 50 years.
